I lost 44 lbs myself (from 165-170 down to 126-130).

1 - Do what you will stick with most. That is what will burn the most calories. :-)

2 - CLASSES at the gym burn more b/c the music and a great teacher keep you motivated. And you are less likely to give up and walk away. Plus the other people there help lift each other up. (I go to 24hr fitness)

3 - In terms of cardio machines, I find that I ALWAYS burn more calories by the little measuring digital thing on elliptical. So I am always so tempted to do it, but I force myself to do other cardio (walking uphill, starting to run - I am not good, rowing machine, stair climber, bike) because even though the digital number reader shows more cals burned on elliptical, it is no longer as difficult for me and I need to push my body. Don't forget about variety and challenging your body.

4 - Do not forget strength training. What made a world of difference when I lost weight was doing strength training because it will increase your strength and endurance and keeps burning calories long after your workout is done [when you strength train]. Doing cardio alone will only burn calories while you are doing the activity itself.

GOOD LUCK!

Yeah, I'm assuming you mean which ones will burn _fat_ the fastest. You don't even need a gym to burn hella calories.
1. Jump rope. They cost less than $10, and they last a long time and can help you get into ace shape.
2. Rowing machine. Typically expensive, but can do wonders if you have one convenient (was the only reason I went to a gym for a particular year).
3. Bed. I mean by having sex, which can work one's thorax, hips and stomach... and if you wanna get interesting, you can get a full-body workout in under an hour (depending on your and your partner's stamina). Some exercise physiologists call the bed, "the best piece of fitness equipment in the world." However, it is best used with a partner. And a spotter too, if that's your thing.

4. Bodyweight calisthenics, which don't require equipment, ie pushups, lunges, wall-sits, squats, etc. can build some power and a lot of endurance. Not to mention burning off fat like a flamethrower.
5. Free weights can build good stability, decent endurance and plenty of power. More muscle burns more calories by default, even when you're not exercising. Plus it makes you more easily able to induce a partner into your bed.

Hope that helps.

First, to get the "macho" seem, and that i'm undecided what you mean precisely, however the huge physique-builder muscle groups incorporate time and the main concepts-blowing DNA makeup. it could take years to pass from 0 to over-experienced. in case you pick for to steer clear of the majority and build lean muscle mass use low weight and extreme repetitions. which means weights you're taking raise 25-30 situations for the time of a sequence, with 2 contraptions a consultation. upload cardio, which will lean you out, and ward off the majority. think of working and cycling, seem at those adult men bodies, lean muscle, no longer distinctive bulk. maximum suitable of success.
