oddly enuff its more expensive to eat healthy and feed your body what it needs to burn calories fastest than buying junk ... but it can be done inexpensively!!!
my trips to the store include both fresh and frozen vegies to keep the cost down. i also look for sales on frozen vegies with no sauce or junk on them,, alot of times you can buy a bag of green beans thats 4-6 servings for only a buck. add a pat of omega smart margerine for 25 cals, and seasoning - yummmm!!!
i also like to buy frozen fruit, vanilla yogurt, and protein powder to make a morning smoothie with, or an evening dessert. buy lots of fruit,, specially apples, you'd be surprised how filling they are if you cut them up, add some lemon juice to keep them from getting brown and a "jiffy peanut butter to go" cups for an afternoon snack.
if you're short on time,, bags of lettuce and corn toritllas come in handy.. i'll buy a bag of tysons cooked seasoned spicy chicken strips, nuke for 90 seconds and toss on a salad or in corn tortillas for supper.. pack the salad full of fave vegies or the quicky taco's.
lastly, string cheese makes for good snacks too, tasty and hit the spot , as does the campell's soup in hands. most hv less than 100 cals per can to get you thru those hunger pains.
whatever you do,, don't do a crazy no carb or no fat diet,, its all about how many calories you eat and how many you burn thru moving. there is no miracle diet. eat a balanced diet, avoid sugars, saturated fats, processed foods, and breads.
be creative, don't let it get boring and give it two weeks!! takes 14 days to chng your tastebuds and create good habits, won't be easy but - YOU'RE WORTH IT!!!
good luck and happy new year!!!

The trick is to add fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet.
Please note that I said "add" and not "substitute".
Experiment with those fruits and vegetables which are in season, and you should be able to stay well-within your budget.
