I feel your pain. My splinter was under my bird finger. I tried tweezers, I clipped the nail, but it stayed in there like it was trying to build a colony. Warm water at least helped ease the discomfort.

The good news is, eventually your immune system will simply swallow the splinter. Splinters are just wood (except for metal ones), and while painful, aren't too big a deal.

The one exception I have is if it starts to turn black. That means your cells are beginning to lose the war, and you must go to a doctor who will slash it out (and they rarely give up before they've found it). And if they think you're really hardcore, they'll offer to send you home with a scalpel for a little "do it yourself" splinter-removal.

If it begins to get covered by whiteness, your immune system is assimilating it. The wood will become part of you, and make you stronger. And more woody.

If you haven't done this yet, you're going to have to cut the nail...if your nails are long. Then use something like a pin or needle. Try your best to push it back through the same way as it went in. Best of luck to you, Happy New Year !!!
