For my 13th birthday my dad is letting me redo my bedroom. I love music and I play the guitar so I want to do a music themed room. I have almost black furniture with silver hardware. There isn't a set limit but it can't be too expensive. Any decorating ideas would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I'm a girl.

The success of any decorating scheme depends on how well it suits all the members of your family. To create a décor that you will be happy with, think about what you want and also what you don’t want. It’s a good idea to know what you have before you begun to change things. As you begin to pull your design ideas together, think about your preference and what will work in your home. Color can work wonders... it can change the look of a room and change your feeling about the room. You can start by looking through magazines, and catalogs. Give yourself plenty of time, it will take longer than you think, and your ideas will develop as you go. Gathering samples is a great way to begin. If you are starting with a color, your samples might include fabric, paint chips, wallpaper, carpet, wood, stone, and tile. Knowing what you can spend on a project will give you a clearer idea of what you can achieve. If you’ll on a limited budget, mark off those things that will make the most difference, such as a new wall color and a new sofa. You can set the mood of a room in lots of ways, such as lights, and furnishings. There are no hard or fast rules or must-do sequence for this process.

I love music too! Sounds like a fantastic theme for a bedroom. Here are my ideas:

Since you like guitar so much, set up your guitar in a cozy corner of your room and let it sit there on display when you aren't playing it.

Take parts of really old, cool looking instruments (from a garage sale or something) and nail them to your wall. If you have a few hangers on your wall, maybe even lay an old flute horizontally across the hooks.

Creating a mobile with musical notes with wire beads, cardboard, and other stuff laying around would be an easy, creative thing to do.

I'm guessing you like to listen to it a lot. If you have a radio or a boom box on your desk, spruce it up a bit with stickers or colored tape.

On your wall, hang music posters, old records and record cases, CD jackets, and so on.

Find a peace of sheet music that looks cool stand has a song that means something to you, and paint watercolors lightly over it to make a rainbow page of our favorite song.

Also, it sound like your using a lot of black and white, but I've always pictured music as a colorful thing, so maybe adding a few brighter colors to accent your room would be better than just the black and white you're using.

Hope these are helpful!

First, choose a dramatic wall color. You could do a lot with blank Cd's. Make a wall border out of them. Also go check out the hard rock cafe, I'm sure there are some neat ideas you could copy. Get some cool posters of your favorite musicians and frame them for some nice artwork. You could also frame the jackets from any Cd's that you have. Be creative and you'll be amazed at what you can do for not very much money.

Great idea. Who is your favorite band? Go with a favorite band theme. Or, an oldies like the Beatles. That would go great with your black and silver furniture you already have. You can get really neat Beatles items off e-bay.I love that idea. Hope you do too.Good luck

I know this doesnt work with your theme specifically but I have a friend who did her room with this coolpaint that made one of her walls like a chalkboard. Then when people came over they could use colored chalk and do some fun graffitti and write messagesall over the wall. When she got tired of it she could erase it and start over. It was really cool!

use cd's as suncatcher by your window, frame sheet music, guitar picks are very inexpensive you can glue them to picture frames, lampshades, etc good luck and don't forget to thank your dad, he works hard for the money you will be spending, so do something nice for him. Happy 13th Birthday.
