Well, they say you don't always die from tobacco.. Sometimes you just lose a lung... *everybody sing with me* Oh you don't always die from tobacco.. Sometimes they just snip out your tongue.. So you wont sing worth a heck.. With a big hole in your neck... Oh you don't always die from tobacco.

Well if you can run a mile today you won't be able to even walk up a flight of stairs in 1 or 2 or 3 years! Your clothes will stink, your hair will stink, your room will reek and your breath will stink also Girls and guys don't want to kiss an ashtray! I am 48 years old and wish to GOD I had never, ever started to smoke 38 years ago!! If you just started QUIT! While it is still easy-because the longer you do it the harder it gets believe me!!

I could give a long essay here but here's the killer:
1) You look bad: early wrinkles and gray hair, bad breath, bad teeth...a good deal of people won't date you simply because you smoke and you'll most likely lose more friends from smoking than you'll gain
2) You get tons of medical bills dealing with the above plus the cost of cigarettes
3) Your life expectancy can easily be cut by 12+ years and, when you do die, it will be a much more long, painful process
4) Your sex life will likely go down the tubes: try having good sex when your cardio system is clogged beyond belief (even after a year of smoking)
5) Any ability to exercise and eat healthily to maintain health is greatly hurt by the mixing of cigarette toxins and food and lack of ability to breathe and burn calories: no, smoking does NOT help you lose weight overall, even as a teen.
6) You will often find yourself backing out of social situations to take a smoke and annoying people. More and more nowadays, employers my also not hire or even may fire you for smoking because they are unwilling to deal with the medical costs.
7) Your ability to deal with stress goes down as you lean on cigarettes to decrease it...ironically, this co-dependence makes you more stressed overall, not less
8) You will likely develop an oral fixation (need to have something in your mouth often) which may make you overeat often.
9) To kill the effect of the breath you may, as several people in families I know have, turn to drinking to help diminish the taste and relieve stress that happens due to factors of smoking mentioned above.
10) If you have any competitive athletic skills or hobbies, you most likely have to toss them out the window after a few years of smoking (and feel guilty about them for the rest of your life)
11) If you are under 18, getting caught with cigarettes can earn you fees and jail time.
12) Even if you hide your cigarette habits it will show in the smell of your clothes (and wearing down of your clothes), even in the short term.
There are several more reasons but, if these alone do not ring a bell, who knows what will.
Best luck and, needless to say, don't smoke. :-)

It's so un-cool to smoke these days. The cool factor is important for teens. Clever, cool teens get to chose the quality of their friends... as well as their health.
There's lots of good stuff to read about teens and smoking here: http://www.quitguide.com/teenage-smoking.html

Reduced cash means less fun. Smelling like an ashtray means fewer friends. A mough tasing like a sewer means less sex/kissing. Colds tend to result in bad coughs. As time goes on the risk of lung and mouth cancer rises as does the risk of heart problems (and many other killer diseases). In the end they will die, on average, 15 years sooner than they would have.

i started smoking at 13, and i think it stunted my growth. i'm the shortest one in my family- both my younger siblings are a lot taller than i am. it sucks!
plus its way too damn expensive. just quit now if you can.
