Yes they would if they were scared and green enough. It happened at Kent State back in the 70's. They were Ohio National Guard though and thoroughly scared of the anti-war protesters. They had M-1 Garands and basically cut lose. Long range and high power, 30-06, the rounds just kept going and some hit. Scared kids on both sides of anything are a bad deal. You might also consider that basically every time a union soldier shot at a Confederate he was firing on another American citizen. The north never recognized the Confederacy as a separate nation. The same is true the other way around, they were all Americans. So basically Americans have killed more Americans in one war than any foreign power.

Though they would not like it, there would instances where American Military Personnel would fire upon American Citizens while in America. When you enlist or are commissioned, you swear to protect this country against its enemies, foreign and domestic. I don't know if shots were fired, but when the Rodney King Riots happened in the 90's, Marines and National Guard from Cali were sent in to restore peace in the area. That would be an example of a time where it would be possible.

The National Guard did it in 1970. Google "Kent State Massacre" It almost happened again in 1971 when John Kerry and the Vietnam Veterans Against the War staged a giant demonstration in Washington DC. The 82d Airborne Division was called up to keep order. Some of those soldiers wanted to shoot Kerry just for messing up their holiday week-end.

If things get out of hand like they did back then, American troops might be ordered to fire on Americans. When it happens, this country will fall.

The question needs clarifying, its against the Law (the constitution) for the US military to be used on our own soil against Americans. States however have their own national guards who are called out in emergencies and would be more likely to be in situations where they are firing on Americans...(Kent state was the Ohio National guard not the US military) there is a difference.

it truly is what the Police are for. As a soldier, attacks on electorate are literally not allowed, or a minimum of they weren't even as i change into contained in the protection stress. The nationwide safeguard can ought to talk for themselves. I keep in thoughts a mess at Kent State college in Ohio. As a soldier, i does not have obeyed an unlawful order.

They wouldn't unless the American citizens turned out to be terrorists and started firing on the rest of us. Why such a question?

Like Kyle said Its in our Oath. Would I want too. NO. But if I had to yes.

Example if I was in Oklahoma when McVeigh was there to blow up the Federal Bldg. and I knew it. Hell yes I would have shot him.

If you're armed and dangerous, I would duty my duty to protect my fellow Americans. Period.
