Last I knew, there were more cats owned than dog. Cats surpassed dogs a few years ago!!

The most common pet in the world is actually aquarium fish, I believe, but as stated before, there are more cats, and more households owning dogs.

There are more cats then dogs as pets, but there are more dog owners then cat owners.
Cat owners tend to have more then one. They usually have several. I just saw a commerical the other day and the woman said cats are like potato chips you can't just have one!
BTW the world spends over $55 billion dollars a year on pet food!

without hesitation, cats. There are more cats than dogs owned in the world and statistics established they are the number one pet owned in the USA with approximately 76.4 million whereas dogs are 61.8 million.

I have 2 dogs and a cat--So I guess I would have to say dog....Will be interesting to see what others post..Good question!

I think cats are. They are easier to take care of and they seem to populate rather easy.
