Yes, the timing of his execution was definitely insensitive to Muslim Holy days.

As the Muslims dictated when he was to be executed, I doubt seriously if it was done during a holy period.

There will always be those who claim to be insulted by his execution.

We need to stop asking questions about Saddam and his death. There are other issues in the world today.

He was hanged before the holiday started. They reported this on the news. It was done before so as not to intefer with the law so there was no insult made to Muslims.

"The former Iraqi dictator was executed shortly before the start of the festival of Eid al-Adha, one of the two most important holidays in Islam."

It was done on Eid. Here are excerpts from two different papers:

''In his final moments, shortly after the dawn call to prayer, Hussein, a Sunni Arab, came face to face with today's Iraq, which he had never met, having spent the past three years in U.S. custody''. from the
Washington Post

> ''Mr Agha said Saddam's execution on the first day
> of Eid Al Adha was befitting because in the 1980s
> the Baath regime would deliver the bodies of
> prisoners they had killed to their families on this
> day''. from the
Gulf Daily News

It was done deliberately to insult the Sunnis.

Well, I am not sure about the whole holy days thing.
See it was insulting to the Sunni sect
since Saddam was a Sunni and he was to many a hero, and Sunni's first day of eid al adha was Saturday, therefore it was insulting and demeaning to us sunnies, but the Shiite I think all of them hated him and wanted to hang him themselves were having the time of their life, plus the eid al adha in their calendar started on Sunday.. so .. it didn't offend ALL Muslims...

Yes it was planned to do exactly so. Saddam for many Muslims are not important but this event insulted them because it is planned in their holiest day of the year. The tradition of Arabs before and after Islam is not kill for revenge in this day even if you meet and able to kill your enemy or who killed your father or your son.

Holidays. Yes if Iraq had been in charge of killing Saddam INSANE lol he would have been allowed to go to Eid ul-Adha. So obviously the Americans (BUSH) paid the Iraqis to go against Islamic teachings and kill him on the holiday. So yes it was an insult. Muslims DO NOT execute crimminals on holy days.

That may well be. However a great many of them would not have cared when it took place. Both sides were pretty vocal about it. As I have maintained throughout the whole thing, I am glad that those whose innocent blood he shed have been given justice and retribution...even if it did come too late.

Saddam Hussein may have done what he did and ALlah knows best! But if we are trying to judge him fairly then we have to include other rulers too!
Under USA's influence how many innocent lives have been lost??
Under UK's influence how many innocent bloods have been shed?
And more...
He is not the only tyrant....look around us! We conclude as if he was the only tyrant leader!!
