I think his message was that carpet is NOT the important thing here..........helping people is. Seems part of the congragation has forgotten what's really important......I doubt if clean carpet will get one into heaven.........some people never cease to amaze me!

Maybe he was learning himself a message, but which ones would you call dogs, the poor or the homeless? I guess it would depend on which you would consider a "rend" upon him....the complaints or the messy carpet.

That they were not better then the homeless and if the carpet was getting in the way of them seeing that then loose the carpet.

I'd imagine his point is that if the carpet was too good for 'these people' and that they were messing it up then it was also too good for them since they are all equal in Gods eyes. It's a brilliant object lesson.

I liked this question, it put my brain to work,
I think the lesson was, people are important, material things aren't
can't take them to heaven, so why should they matter?
