I read here that his health will also improve if he is spayed. Will spaying the male dane puppy, improve his growth too. Or how will it affect him?
But i wanted to get his litters later when he is completely matured, so i dont want him to be spayed. So, whats the solution for his weird behaviour with the other male dog who is also just 10 months?

yeah, its better for both the male and female to be spayed or neutered. the females don't have to be locked up or made to wear pants during their season. males are less likely to roam and much less likely to hump things or mark everything in sight.

besides--unless your dog is a show dog, there's not really much reason to want to breed him or her. there's too many pups and kittens put to sleep each year for want of a home.

spay or neuter your dog. it will be the best investment you've ever made.

A Dane should NEVER be bred until he is at least 2 years old. He also needs to have health tests done & passed...OFA/PennHip on hips,CERF/PRA on eyes, thyroid and cardio tests..these are extremely important and can't be stressed enough!!!! Also he needs to be shown and either pointed or obtained his championship or evaluated by at least 3 unbiased breed knowledgable people/judges to make sure he meets the breed standard. He also needs to be bred within the color code/family and by the GDCA code of ethics. He needs to have impeccible temperament and pedigree.
(Females are spayed, males are neutered). A Dane puppy should be neutered between 10 & 14 months of age. It will not effect his growth..it will have no effect..he will be what he will be as dictated by genetics and nutrition.
There is no reason to leave him intact or to produce litters from him unless he meets all of the above, is an exceptional speciman of the breed and has something ot offer back to the breed besides simply a litter of puppies. There are way too many inferior bred "pet" Danes out there already that have health 7 temeprament issues and are producing more of the same.
Neutering is the best thing you can do for your Dane.He will be happier & healthier. He won't be at risk of reproductive cancers & infections or for anal fistuals, he won't develop hormone driven unwanted behaviors..Be advised that sometimes standing a dog at stud causes them to become dog aggressive and develope some serious unwanted behaviors.

I suggest you go to the GDCA website and gain some insight and also get the book Great Danes, Model of Nobility by Jill Swedlow. You need to learn a lot more about this magnificant breed.

First of all, male dogs are neutered not spayed. (females are spayed). As for his health improving-no, but he will have less chance of developing different health problems. He will be less domineering and will be less inclined to roam. If you decide that you want to breed him later, of course, you won't be able to. But then there are already too many dogs that need homes.

Weird behavior: are you referring to "humping" the other male dog? This is an act of dominance. He is trying to be the top dog and wants the other one to know it. Also, since they are ten months old, probably is a form of play. Like children, puppies like to play.

Get him neutered instead of being selfish. Have you ever stepped foot into a shelter? Seen all of the dogs being put down everyday because no one wants them, or the puppies that end up there because someone selfishly wanted a litter. There are enough idiot backyard breeders in this world, don't be yet another one and add to the overpopulation of animals just being bred because a selfish person wants the puppies. Neuter him, he will most likely live a happier, healthier life and be a better behaved dog as well.

Spaying is for female dogs. Male dogs are nuetered.

I own danes, and I can assure you, you're better off getting your dog fixed and NOT breeding him. So very many people get dane puppies thinking its going to be fun and wonderful, and they dont realize how extreamly costly, large, and messy they are. As a result these dogs end up in shelters or abused and neglected.

There are enough dogs and puppies in the world without making more.

Besides that, male dogs that are not fixed tend to mark everything, mount everything, and are obssessed with trying to make puppies with anything that pill stand still for them.

Its a known fact that the reduction of testosterone in an animals body early in its life can result in larger growth.

Our dane is nuetered and ended up much taller than his dad. :)

Get your dog fixed, its the responsible thing to do as a dog owner.

The male dog is neutered NOT spayed.

Neutering reduces the risk of prostate and testicular cancer in males. It also reduces spraying (lifting his leg on everything), and will make him less territorial.
spaying eliminates the risk of pyometria (infection of the uterus) and reduces the risk of mammary cancer in females.

You do not know enough about dogs to breed. you NEED to have your male neutered. The female dog needs to be spayed. Point blank...bottom line.

The ONLY solution to the two dogs mating is being a responsible owner and having both the male and female castrated.

You dont spay a male only a female. You neuter him. If he is registered and comes from a good bloodline/pedigree then you can use him for breeding. The reason he ""HUMPS" other animals is not because he isa "horny"" dog. He is showing the other dog that he is in his territory, and he is the boss of his area.

Actually: Neutering is what you do to males. =) Spaying is what you do to females!

In any case. Typically neutering/spaying helps animals avoid more painful things in life, and lessens chances of cancer. You have a great dane pup? I've got a 19 month old pup myself (who just yawned in my face as I typed that). Unless you intend to breed him, neutering is better than risking pups.

A male is neutered, not spayed. Neutering will not affect his growth, it will greatly lessen his chances of getting cancer.

Also, only the very BEST examples of any breed should be bred and only after they've had all their health checks done. They need to be tested and cleared for hip and elbow dysplasia, have their hearts checked, a brucellosis test, etc.

Boy dog are not spayed they are neutered. Yes it will help with his behavior towards other dogs and toward people. It also eliminated the chance that he will get testicular cancer. It will also mean he will never get certain types of hernias and a few other diseases. Unless your dog is free of all genetic diseases and is of breeding quality he should be neutered. Leave the breeding to the experts.
