They have not allowed God to open their eyes to truth. The Bible says they are lukewarm and he will spit them out. In Granite City Illinois, about 30,000 babies are murdered each year, and there are about 75 "Christian" churches with their heads buried in the sand. Woe to them on Judgement Day.
Abortion is murder. Murderers will not inherit the kingdom of Heaven. It is written

"Actually, i find the opposite to be puzzling. How can people who believe in the biblical God say he is against abortion when they believe that he killed all the first born sons of an entire city? If God can kill innocent children, then why would he be against abortion?"
The answer to that poster's question is that it was God himself doing that act. It is never for us to take the killing of unborn children into OUR hands.
I don't think a Christian can believe in abortions if he/she has studied the Bible and has been one for a long time.
It could be that the Christian you're referring to is still a babe in Christ and the Lord is still opening his eyes to the sins of the world.
Becoming a Christian doesn't make a person do a complete 360 immediately. It's a gradual process to growing in the knowledge of the Lord. Actually it's a CONTINUOUS process, lol.

I don't think you are in a position to "fairly hear" arguments when you already propose to speak for all of Christianity, despite that there is not one single Biblical prohibition for abortion even though the practice was common in Biblical times. Before someone can propose arguments you have to have a common reference point from which to argue. So I would recommend you modify your question by submitting support for your claim that Christianity as a whole opposes abortion.

There are many who do not consider a fetus a viable human being, and are unwilling to permit the slavery of a woman simply because she happens to be equipped with a uterus.
The beginning of human life was for centuries considered the day of birth, not the day of conception. This is a new concept. (People don't celebrate conception days, they celebrate birthdays.)

My argument is simply this. If someone raped my daughter, heaven forbid, I would not make her carry to term what would be a memorie of what happened and essentially continue to let her be raped everytime she looked at her growing stomach. I also would not tell a man to ask his wife to let him keep the child if it was going to risk her life to do so. There are a great many gray areas in places where such sinsitive subjects are held dear but you asked and I answered.

Their are christians and there are Christians.
According to polls that have been taken, many Christians would commit murder of a family member for a million dollars.
I would tend to call them christians with a little c.
These people profess to be christians but rarely go to church, rarely read the Bible, rarely converse with born-again believers.
Christians are almost always pro-life, except for the death penalty. These beliefs match up with the scriptures.

Abortion is the willful killing of an innocent life, one that God cherishes
Psalm 127:3--" Lo, children are a heritage of Jehovah; And the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Psalm 139:13--"For you formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb."
Isaiah 44:2--"Thus saith Jehovah that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, who will help thee--"
Isaiah 44:24---"Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb: I am Jehovah, that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth "
Isaiah 49:5--"And now saith Jehovah that formed me from the womb to be his servant--"
Isaiah 49:15 __"Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, these may forget, yet will not I forget thee."
Jeremiah 1:5--" Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee, and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee; I have appointed thee a prophet unto the nations."
These Scriptures show how God cherishes his creation, while still in the womb.

Abortion is a very controversial topic. Some believe it is murder while others do not. God is not bound by his commandments we are.
