A puppy needs to be at least 8 weeks old before it is sold/given away. In many states it is illegal to buy, sell, adopt or gieaway any puppy that has not completed it's 7th week and some states it is 8 weeks.
Also vaccinations should NOT be started sooner then the end of the 7th week, 8 weeks is better. Sooner then this and it can interfer with natural immunity and it can cause problems in the future with vaccinations. Also vaccinations given younger then 7 weeks are considered null & void by current vacciantion protocol.
Be aware that puppies (and their mom) are suppose to be dewormed at 2, 4, 6 & 8 weeks of age.

Alot of breeders are in a great hurry to kick the kids out of the nest it is always better for the pup and the mom to have a little more quality time. I have seen with my experience that 12 weeks is alot better for both of them. It gives you the satisfaction of knowing that they are eating real food well and digestion it and that they have had two series of puppy shots, and the mom will also be happier . Make sure that you are weaning them through this period, making there inroduction into real food more plyable . It is fine to have the pups pre-sold but let the new owners know that you are doing what you believe is the right thing and that they are welcome to come and pick them up on the adequate date of your choice. Good Luck

Technically, you can seperate them at 8 weeks. But many of the truely BEST breeders wait until 10-12 weeks. This way the puppy gets even more socialization from the moth and other puppies. I always suggest keeping the puppy with the mother until at least 10 weeks.

by the way, you are NOT that smooth. You KNOW you aren't supposed to be advertising and selling on yahoo answers!

Puppies should not leave their mother or their littermates until they are at least 8 weeks-10 weeks old. This is a vital time for a puppy in learning important social issues. This time period also helps a puppy learn many lessons of socialization, potty training and other important things.

A mother dog knows how to correct her puppy if he is doing things wrong without over correcting. Please do NOT allow puppies to go to their new homes until they are at least 8 weeks old.

Also make sure to really check out the people that the new puppies are going.. even ask for references from vets and other people to make certain it will be a great home for the dog.

Also puppies get their first shots starting at the age of 6 weeks and you also need to get them dewormed.

Also, in many states it is illegal to sell a puppy before the age of 8 weeks.

Ideally, puppy should be with its mother for atleast 6-7 weeks while the mother is still weaning (feeding the pups). Mother's milk also ensures immunity from common diseases.
This also ensures pups learns to live with its litter mates - a must for pack animals like dogs. It would also ensures less anxiety for the pup.

I is defiently too early. I would not ever suggest separating a healthy puppy until it is at least 6 weeks old, preferably 8weeks. At that age his teeth are not developed enough to handle enough solid food to sustain him. And I don't know if it's just a typo but it's spelled dachshund.

please do not seperate him before 6 weeks. Unless the pup would not be able to get the proper nutrition which only his mother's milk could provide him. And for that he might suffer for life long. So rethink before seprating him from his mother this early..

Any puppy should be separated from their mothers for at least 8 weeks. They say you can do it after 4 but the puppies are usually whimpier and not sure of themselves.
