You desperately need to get your dog neutered, both for his health and since you don't seem to know much about dogs. Unless the neighbour's dog is in heat, they're playing! (premature means being born before reaching full term).

Well honey even though he is only 11 months old ,, at aboout 6 months this is when animals Dogs start to enter maturity . So even though he may not be very graceful about it ,,, yes he can start to be frisky and he can even be a father just like if it was a female they could be a mother.
If you are going to use him for breeding that is one thing but if he is a every day great pet and part of the family I would advise you to have him nuetered, as this will help to prolong his life and also keep him home,, once they get the taste of the other world they want it forever and thats a fact,,even if you get him fixed youmight see him humping other dogs male or female again but it is only because it is a reaction even female dogs will hump. But if he is fixed this will keep him home and he will not have the urge as bad as if he was studdly. Good luck and every thing will be fine

This is not a display of sexuality at this age!! They are displaying dominence behavior which is necessary and normal in dogs. They will also drape a paw over the other dog's whithers (shoulder blades) and will compete for first in/first out of doorways. Play fighting is normal too: standing up, boxing and making contact with each other's teeth with open mouths. It may look scary or weird but determining the pecking order is a must to prevent more serious competitions later. Please do not interfere with the mounting unless there is a risk of an unwanted pregnancy. If a puppy attempts to mount you, please don't punish him. Remove your body part (hopefully it's just your leg) and tell him "no" or "down" to remind him that there's no need to compete for Alpha; that spot has already been filled by you. My 12 week old Great Dane purebred tried to get sexy with me at 10 weeks and I freaked out. I had no idea that I would be dealing with his sexuality at that age. Thank goodness he was only trying to determine who the boss was. =)

Puppies of all breeds with "hump" each other as early as 6-8 weeks old. This isn't a sexual act but rather a play for "top dog".
I assure you that your Dane at 11 months old can most certainly be sexually mature..this can occur in dogs as early as 5 months. Even though he should never be used for breeding before the age of 2 doesn't mean that he can't or won't before that age.
Get him neutered asap unless you plan on showing him. He'll be much happier and healthier for it. He won't be at risk for reproductive cancers & infections and anal fistuals and he won't develop unwanted hormone driven behaviors.

Actually both dogs are right on schedule. Most b itches have their first heat around 6-7 months. Most males are able to mate at about the same age. neither dog is early in their sexual maturity. Both should be castrated as soon as possible. The female may already be pregnant is she was in heat. Did they actually form a tie? or did the male just hump her? If a male and female actually mate, the male will turn around and they will stand butt to butt (the penis is still in the vagina at this point).
Spaying and Neutering will solve this problem.

It's time to get your dog neutered. We don't need anymore unwanted pets in the world. 6 months is the best age to spay and neuter puppies. No it's not a sign of prematurity. They are mature enough to mate at 5-6 months old!
SPAY AND NEUTER- IT'S THE RIGHT THING TO DO!!

Dogs try to mount one another as a sign of dominance, it is very natural dog behavior. And your dog is becoming mature since he is 11 months old.
Many mount each other whether it is male male or male female it is the way their approach situations of interacting with one another.
I wouldn't let this behavior go on if your dog isn't neutered or if the other dog is a female and isn't spayed. If that is the case do NOT let them do this.
You DON'T want an unplanned litter of puppies being born into this world..

He is definetly old enough to be mating. He is also fertile (so be careful). He could also just be humping instead of actually mating which is really just a sign of dominance. Either way, he could definetly get a female pregnant, so be careful. But to answer your question, there is nothing weird about or anything wrong with your dog.

I have heard of male dogs that fathered a litter of puppies at 5 months old, but their hormones really start kicking in at about 15 months. Your dog is old enough to be really trying to mate, but more likely he is just playing and showing dominance.

Personally, my great danes never tried to mate with each other at that age, but they did hump stuff. I'm sure it's fine, but unless you want it to mate, I suggest getting it neutered/spayed as soon as it's old enough. Even some children figure out how to masturbate before they are even sexually mature. I think you're dog will be fine.
