I am trying to have a traditional New Year's Dinner, but I did not want to use pork.Has anybody heard of a New Year's Dinner with deer meat and if so,what would the deer stand for (like greens for money, rice for riches, black eyed peas for peace....)???

I don't think deer has a meaning for the new year. As for the rest of them, I think it's demographical. I had to eat herring on crackers for the new year when I was a kid and we lived back east. Black eyed peas is a southern thing. I would say make your own reason for eating it. I'd do it for the taste..........it's yummy.

Deer meat is better than pork for this occasion so I think you should use it. I think it would stand for...........Dear ones.... as in you are dear to me.

You do that and nobody will be around to pull Santa's sleigh so it won't end up a happy new year at all.
