first you need to go to a local salon and get a consultation. the only way to get rid of split ends is by a trim. extreme dryness comes from the lack of moisture. when taking care of your hair at home try using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. hair is made up of protein. different things we do to our hair can cause those protein bonds to weaken thus causing breakage. i am a cosmetologist and your best bet is to go to a salon to get a hair analysis. a protein treatment may be needed to stop breakage

i know where you're coming from. the best thing to do is get a hair cut right away to get rid of the split ends. your hair will look healthier almost immediately. i use garnier fructis shampoo and conditioner because it does actually make hair stronger. they make a shampoo specifically for curly hair and there are tons of extra products out there to help keep your hair from drying out, fading, etc. i suggest going to target. they've got a really good selection to choose from.

After a trim, you could do a hot oil treatment with olive oil. Olive oil is the most like the natural oils in the human body than any other oil. I put it in a zip loc bag and then put the bag in a cup of hot water and use it on my wet hair when showering. Rinse and wash with shampoo, like always.
