After I get married I want to be able to change my child last name to my SigOthers Last Name ...Can I do that WITHOUT having to go through adoption since my child only carries MY last name ? How woudl I go about it without the adoption option ?

That depends on who's name is on his birth certificate. If his bio father's name is on it then you will have to contact him and have him sign off all paternity rights (IF he wants to) if it is listed as "unknown" you can put ANYONE'S name there but you might want to check with your state regarding adoption. It may just simply be your husband sigining his name to some formal paperwork.

check with the office of vital statistics in your area, You still have to go to court and get the name change approved by a judge. It costs around $25 and you need to explain why you want to change the name to the judge and he/she will then either grant you the change, or NOT grant you the change. When you go in to apply for your marriage license, ask where you can also find the form for changing names, the paperwork will be at the courthouse along with your marriage license. So - you can ask them the procedure. Each State is probally different but here you take it through the courts and the judge approves it
