My cockatiels have laid 4 eggs and have been sitting on them for about 3 weeks already. Today i looked in the nestbox and found another egg. Do they normally do this? When do the eggs usually hatch and what will happen to the last egg.

"In answer to how long it takes for a Cockatiel egg to hatch....gestation is usually between 25-30 days... The only way I know to tell whether ot not its fertile is to "candle it" which means to hold it up to a candle to see if there's an embryo inside..but I would not suggest taking it off the nest. If its not hatched within about 30 days or so I would remove it from the nest...because the process takes energy away from the females who had been sitting on the egg all that time...too much energy wasted will wear her down"

Good luck. You might want to mark the newest one with a magic marker, to keep it known how it's been in the nest, since it's gestation is going to be different from the rest. Good luck!

Fertility of the eggs is paramount. One presumes you have a mated pair in the same cage. The information previously given is within the bounds of correctness. I expect hatching at day 22 but like other birds this varies on conditions, temperature and other enviromental factors.
A word of caution when marking eggs, some markers contain chemicals which can leech into the egg sac and affect the prodginy. Ensure you use a water based pen or a normal soft pencil, even an eyebrow pencil to put a small mark on it. ( not too large) as some tiels will reject the egg because of changes to its appearance etc.
After 30 days it is imperitive to remove any unhatched eggs as they tend to explode and create a nasty stink in the nest box. It also poses risks of infection to any hatchlings currently occupying the nest box. I write for cockatielbreeders in MSN groups, so feel free to drop by and ask any further questions on Cockatiels.

ascertain the fowl receives a good number of calcium in a cuttle bone or gravel. feed a weight-loss plan that contains sparkling fruit and vegetables. you may want to assume 2-3 eggs. yet when it receives persistent ,like an egg each 3 days or so that you want to ascertain the vet ,too many eggs will reason the fowl stress probably to the point of lack of life. except that no concerns ,egg binding seriously is not a topic ,ascertain the fowl can get some exercising by flying slightly daily.
