It may be a 'valid' tactic, but that doesn't mean the guy is someone the girl will want to be with. Frankly I have always found smooth pick-up artists to be boring, insecure people once you get to know them, and they aren't good for anything but a one-nighter (and are usually pretty lousy at that, since they tend to be selfish in bed). I always regretted getting involved with them. I prefer depth in my relationships, and my favorite pick-up line of all time has always been, "Hi, my name is..." that's the one my husband used ;-)

Fraiser has a point, but having my hair swept back, walking like I am somone, and making myself respectfully available renders (at least for me) completely useless pickup lines.
I would get into Fraiser's mode if I were wanting to find a permanent partner.
Hot is how we are, not only what we say.

The hard part is the 'charming inoffensive', unfotunately this is a where lot of men struggle to manage both. If you can though it's worth a try.
I have a colleague who often greets me as 'the woman of my dreams'; I wouldn't let anyone else get away with this, but I have to laugh everytime he does it.

Trust me...pick up artists...pick up lines....they've been around for hundreds of years. I don't say that they don't ever work...the trouble is they work on women I would not let my dog date.
Let an old man have his say here....I know some of you 'dudes' will give me thumbs down...but anyway...
Girls, women, all they want is to be treated like the desirable, smart, funny, and equal human beings they are. They don't want to be fooled or bullied or tricked or overwhelmed by a grinning idiot.
Be yourself. If you are a T**t...you will be found out anyway. If you are like most of us...much more sensitive and smart than we are given credit for...then being yourself is an open door for the love of your life to find you!!
Good luck and have a fantastic new year.
(miserable old git aren't I?)
