All dogs shed, except hairless dogs. There are some dogs that shed more than others depending on the coat type. They shed all year round, although a lot of dogs coming into the salon I work at seem to shed a lot more during season changing. You can reduce the amount of shedding with monthly bathing. Try using an oatmeal based shampoo, or having a groomer use an oatmeal shampoo then blow out the coat with a high velocity dryer that removes dead coat -- If your dog will allow the dryer to be used! :) An oatmeal based shampoo is a good general shampoo to use to help condition the skin and coat while preventing dry skin. It's also great for dogs with skin allergies. Grooming tools that I would recommend to use between baths at home would really depending on the breed of dog or the type of coat your dog has. Tools range from a rake, a shedding blade, a zoom groom, a furminator, a slicker brush, etc.

all dogs shed, it's normal. humans shed their hair all year long. but if you feel it's excessive first check with your vet to make sure there is not a medical reason for excessive hair loss, such as poor diet or maybe thyriod. if you want to reduce the amount of fur your dog sheds you can take them to a groomer and have the furminator done with them. it's a special brush and shampoo that gets rid of almost all of their loose undercoat.

Feeding your dog a high-quality dog food really helps with shedding issues. We switched our German Sheperd from Beneful to Iams (which isn't that awesome, but def. better!) and she sheds much less now. Also, we brush her weekly with a rake-like comb and what's called a shedding blade. They're available at pretty much anty pet store.

Flaxseed oil, fish oil, essential fatty acids (omega 3/6) can help. There are also supplements that you can buy at pet stores to help with shedding. None of these are going to stop the shedding, but they can improve his coat and reduce shedding.

there should be a shampoo for shedding dogs and then brush daily or take them to the groomer they will bath her and use a very high speed blower on them and get a lot of loose hairs off.

I've seen this thing on tv called "shed-ender" - - it's supposed to "comb" away the loose hairs on the dog - thought about getting it myself - - I hope it works - - good luck!

dogs shed their winter coat or even loose hair. there is no produce to use to stop this. there is a shedding comb and you must use it or not. but a comb is your only answer

There is really nothing you can do. all dogs shed its normal but if your dog is not supposed to be shedding that much contact your local vet and tell them about the misterious shedding and they will get her checked. Your dog might just have cancer.
