Loosing weight is changing your way of life. It's not about diets restrictions, pills, killing yourself at the gym...just to gain it all back plus some. I would first look at

what you eat
how much water you drink
how much other things you drink
how much exercise you get
what time of the day do you eat

Next start thinking about changing things you eat.

Skim milk or 1%
wheat bread
wheat pasta
white meat
bake all foods
Salt lower your salt intake
Control how much ranch, mayo, mustard, etc you use

Once you get an idea of what is out of control and make a few changed you will see a new way of life a new way of eating

Also fast food is a no go. Not ever day not even once a week. I would limit that as much as you can. If you have to get a water no pop fruit for the side or order small. Subway is great if you use one of there healthy sandwiches.

A lot of people start out on weight watches and learn how to eat then once you learn how to eat you dint need ww anymore

good luck

Set yourself a goal on how much weight you want to loose.
A healthy weight loss should be 1 to 2 pound a week.
In the first week you will loose between 5 and 10 pounds depending on your current weight, but this is only a temporary weight loss, because its all water.
Get rid of all your junk food in the house and replace them with fruits, vegetables and lettuce.
Make a menu plan for each day or week and stick with it.
Eat 5 times a day to keep you metabolism going and take a Multivitamin Supplement. Start out walking a mile a day and increase it to 2 miles a day. You will be loosing your weight in a healthy way, without starving yourself. Treat yourself to something nice for your accomplishments. When you slip, go back right on track again. Good luck!

First of all, I hope that you really need to lose weight. I am concerned because of the anorexic and bulimic youngsters I see nowadays.
At one time I lost 50 pounds (from 200 to 150) by adhering to a strict Adkins diet. But I do not recommend this. More recently I dropped thirty pounds over a year by limiting the amounts of food I eat. I stopped feeding my face after my stomach was satisfied. And I joined a gym and work out twice a week. My physical therapist told me to walk for thirty minutes three times a week.
Works for me.
Also, Dr. Gott, a newspaper columnist, advises people to avoid eating sugar and flour. If you can do that, you will lose weight.

From me, a personal trainer's perspective it can be a little more difficult judging if we havent met. Of Course both diet and exercise must be attempted in order to loose weight, the best way is to focus on doing two hours of mild to moderate cardio a weak, preferably 30 min/4 days/wk. As far as your diet, eat low sugar/carb and higher protein foods, spaced into 4 meals a day. Eat no more than your weight times ten in total calories. Hope this helped.

That's like asking which came first--the chicken or the egg. Diet and exercise are BOTH important in a weight-loss regimen. Your weight loss will be significantly slowed if you do one without the other.

You have to figure out why you gained the weight & make the appopriate lifestyle change if you want it to be permanent weight loss. Do you eat to much or not excercise enough or both? Figure that out first. Best Wishes!

Change in diet, combined with exercise is the most prudent, and the most recommended method for losing weight.

I'd know - my dietitian keeps reminding me every time I see her... LOL...
