2000 1.8 lt turbo overheats like a maniac!
it's happened twice now, i suspected it was the water pump so i went to the weep well and nothing there! the oil pan was cracked so i replaced that little problem tute suite.
now i'm at my wit's end, the darn thing should be running at 100% by now! but i can't get more than one hundred yards without the engine and overheat light coming on.
anyone have any idea what's going on?

oh yes and i'm running the proper coolant, running under 91 grade and it's full, no cracks to speak of. everything seems to be tip top. i would think it's faulty wiring except that it really does get hot under the hood when popped.

check the operation of the cooling fans as there has been a problem with these seizing up-when the oil pan cracked you may have caused some internal damage, remove the sump again and inspect the crank shells for blueing which will indicate heat damage-cam be repaired but take it to an engine specalist

Head Gasket.... Blown... Coolant jacket to coolant jacket.... Causing the water pump problems... Also coolant Fan High speed doesn't seem to be kicking in if you can't go 100 ft...

Check compression... Then leak down test on coolant system. ((pressure Check))

One of these will find your real problem...

Good Luck... Also if you over heated it more than 3 times you might have burn't the piston rings or valve guide seals... Watch for the Blue smoke next.... Out the exhaust.

Check to make sure you cooling fan is coming on, if it isnt then it is the temp sensor that activates the fan. If the fan is coming on then your car should be overheating. Too easy.

most likely failed water pump impeller, if your milage is 80k or more do the timing belt while you do the pump(it has to be removed anyways), you may want to consider replacing the thermostat as well.
