I want to dye my hair permanently however, i have been using Shaders and Toners temporary hair colour (lasts 3 washes). The box on the permanent colour is a bit vague about previously coloured hair. What is your advice?

Go ahead and do it. I've been using the ones that wash out after 28 shampoos and I got tired of doing that so I went with permanent. It looks fine and isn't dried out. Just make sure you condition well after you dye it.

If i was you i would Waite until you get rid of any other colour you have in your hair. You don't want it falling out or turning green or something daft like that and any way if you haven't had a permanent on your hair a few more washes will soon get rid so don't jump in to quick give it a few more good washes first OK.

If you have been using rinses and want to use a permanent hair color, it is fine to switch over as long as your hair is in good condition. I would just make sure you are choosing a good permanent brand color to switch over to and have all the essentials to use after coloring. A deep hair conditioner/moisturizer and a bag to allow it to sit for 15-30 minutes after. You can do it less time, but if you have the time to spare, it helps to allow the conditioner to penetrate the shaft. Once you have done your color keep up with the weekly deep conditioning.

the wash in wash out colours should have no effect whatsoever as long as its been in more than 2 weeks. remember to do a strand test first in case you are allergic to any products in it
