When I am at home all day like on weekends or vacation, is it better to leave my computer & all access. on all day or to turn it off and on frequently? Which is best on the computer/etc and my pocket-book (electric bill)?

The electric bill ain't the problem. By turning stuff with IC's, etc., on and off, it's like doing a burnout with your tires. The only wear and tear a computer gets is the "shock" from being turned on and off. (Not so much now, but is used to be a problem back in the day.)

I leave my stuff on in the "hibernate" mode, but shut off my cable modem so I don't get raided. The modem ain't mine, so I don't really care if it goes out. I leave the "box" with power. I turn off the screen, the external devices, etc.

Hope this helps, and have a Happy New Year.

If you are frequently accessing your computer throughout the weekend, it's better for the computer to leave it on. Constant rebooting can slow your pc down. If you leave it on & utilize the energy saver option on your pc, where it hibernates without actually powering down, you electric bill can be relieved.
