According to the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, Jesus teaching was not about eternal life. It was about enlightenment. Striving for wisdom and living out your life in a search for enlightenment.

The second coming of Christ is not a apocapolyptic event. It is about personal revelation.

The son of Man is to be sought within.

Doesn't that sound like a few other "religions", like Buddhism and Hinduism. Neither of those beliefs has a "hell". Hmmm, interesting, don't you think?

Finally the truth is coming to light. Christianity, budhism and islam have there roots in the vedic teachings of india, this fact has been hidden by the powers that be for 2000 years. See www.stephen-knapp.com/articles_to_read This is an unbiased, factual site giving much information about the roots of these religions. Jesus taught the same as a siddha yoga guru.

Aha-you are indeed back.
The Gospel of MM is worth reading, but not for doing theology. Tom Hanks couldn't even make it work in the flawed Da Vinci code.
Check the odds if nothing else: 4 gospels say it is about eternal life and 1 non-gospel says it is.
Striving for wisdom is Proverbs and hardly new as is Ecclesiastes. Why bother to come to earth/cross for that.
2nd coming - what happened to y our red letter words? If it is only about personal revelation - then so much for death, pain, and suffering being finally banished for all of humanity.
The son of man being sought w/in? GTG - children of God are sought w/in. The Spirit of the Son of Man is w/in. Gives validity to all of us charismatics - remember?
Yes it sounds like hinduism - wonderful caste system w/ the total oppresion of the poor and women by a elitist oligarchy.
Yes it sounds like buddhism - offering so little social guidance that countries have swept it away. Besides - no one has claimed to have it work. The closest to that live off the sweat of others by a nihilistic life that leaves neither children, social compassion, or work.
Neither belief needs a hell - they are doing quite well leaving most of the population there in this life.
Good to have you back. You are not going Gnostic on us are you?

Well said (and well read). Hell is a concept largely based on the works of Dante and Milton, over a thousand years after Jesus died.

Jesus was, in many respects, the first hippie - seek enlightenment within - love one another, be honest, kind and tolerant.

The basic message remains - love one another...

Rare to see anyone who recognizes that his teachings mirror the basic tenets of Buddhism as well as Hinduism...

I appreciate it - thank you.

To think that someone actually believes that there is a "Gospel of Mary Magdalene" is really scary. No wonder the world is so messed up. You can buy a Bible at Wal Mart and see what the names of the Gospels are.

The genuine teachings of Yeshua was to help man overcome the limitations upon the mind and to bring about different levels of anointing of mind. Each stage is like a birth within itself until ultimately one becomes the mind of God. To begin this process one has to make their mind into the good ground like the parable of the sower and the seed. That is to say, to strip themselves from the mindset and lifestyle of this world and live a consecrated life in which one applies the truth they have in thought, desire, word and deed.

The narrow path of Yeshua is a movement that occurs over the course of many lifetimes and unlike the eastern teachings like Buddhism, Hinduism etc it does not require you to negate the lower aspects of yourself. In eastern philosophies they rely on gurus/yogis and the yogis rely on their fallen disciples who are ruled over by their animalistic nature to make snail pace developments. And while eastern ways can see into the light of the soul they can not become the light of the soul because they negate a integral part of themselves i.e the lower nature.

Yeshua/Jesus teachings show that one must engage in their lower nature and raise it up in such away to permit one to be able to consciously utilize their higher spheres of mind. This is important because without a earthly nature then the kingdom can not come with in you. And just like how a fetus can not be on the ground outside the mothers womb, neither can one be truly born into this world without a body. And this is the quagmire of both corrupted Christianity and Eastern religions is that they negate the body and see it as useless.

The second coming of Christ is when each man personally becomes Christs themselves which is to say anointed minds and thats what the name Christ/Messiah means: Anointed mind. But since man is utterly incapable of following the path of Yeshua they will continue to be bound by the laws of transmigration until they shake off their drunkenness and begin to walk the narrow path Yeshua spoke of.

Peace

How will the prospects for future life be realized?

Acts 24:15: “I have hope toward God, which hope these men themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” (This will include persons who faithfully served God in the past as well as the large number who never knew enough about the true God to accept or to reject his ways.)

John 11:25, 26: “Jesus said to her [the sister of a man whom he thereafter restored to life]: ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life; and everyone that is living and exercises faith in me will never die at all. Do you believe this?’” (So, besides the hope of resurrection, Jesus held out something else for persons living when the present wicked world comes to its end. Those with the hope of being earthly subjects of God’s Kingdom have the prospect of surviving and never dying at all.)

I think people made some of Jesus' observations thier own religion

I like your views and they largely reflect my own

I agree, the second coming of "the christ" was actually then, not in a future date

it was about realization, or waking up, siezing the day, being in the now and living for today and loving for a lifetime

The hell that hard liners talk of, doesn't make sense. Jesus showed us one great thing, that through His teaching and understanding, we could do the work necessary to free us from bondage of material beliefs and everything those beliefs would impose upon us. Now we have a way to find our true spiritual bodies and life that are indestructible.

I'm pretty sure Buddhists more or less believe THIS is hell.

The first of Buddha's four noble truths is, "Life is suffering," and the whole point is not to reincarnate anymore (i.e., actually die). Once you have escaped your karmic cycle, you achieve parinirvana in the afterlife. So if you're good, you get a good afterlife, and if you're bad, you spend eternity in hell (i.e., Earth).

Hm. Now that does sound familiar.
