Yes, your balance "central" is in your ear.
Also, I have very weak ankles because the arches of my feet are so high, and I have twisted, sprained, torn ligaments, etc in both of my ankles repeatedly.. usually just by walking on uneven ground. And, they both look a little funky now.
I would ask a foot doctor about this, because that may be the same issue with you.
Or, to check at home, step in a puddle and walk a few steps. If your footprint is VERY skinny (like 5 toes and a little line down the side) your foot may be rolling over to the side every time you walk. And if your footprint is very full (as if it were totally flat), you may be rolling your feet too much in the opposite direction when you're walking. This isn't something you can control, but it can wreak havoc on your ankles, because it takes less to send them all goofy than for someone who has neutral shaped feet.
That can be fixed with shoe inserts, if you like. Or you can do exercises to strengthen your calves and ankles. :)

Though you could have some balance problems, most probable you have weak ankle muscles. The muscles give support to the ankle structure, and if they are weak, you will continue to sprain your ankle over and over and over again. [I mention this because of experience]. The best thing to prevent this or make the muscles that support your ankle stronger is by doing exercises for your lower leg muscles (calf, shin). It also helps to try and "spell" the alphabet with your foot. By doing this you rotate your ankle through all the motions that it was made for.
In the meantime, try to stay away from very skinny high heels. May be platform, espadrilles etc are safer. You can also wear a ankle brace (available over the counter) for when you sprain your ankle, while it hurts.
Every time such a thing happens first thing is to decrease the pain and the swelling so just:
R- rest
I - ice (use ice for the first 24 - 48 hours)
C - compress (ace wrap to control the swelling and give support)
E - elevate the leg

The ego is an accumulated phenomenon, a by-product of living with others. If a child lives totally alone, he will never come to grow an ego. But that is not going to help. He will remain like an animal. That doesn't mean that he will come to know the real self, no. The real can be known only through the false, so the ego is a must. One has to pass through it. It is a discipline. The real can be known only through the illusion. You cannot know the truth directly. First you have to know that which is not true. First you have to encounter the untrue. Through that encounter you become capable of knowing the truth. If you know the false as the false, truth will dawn upon you. Ego is a need; it is a social need, it is a social by-product. The society means all that is around you - not you, but all that is around you. All, minus you, is the society. And everybody reflects. You will go to school and the teacher will reflect who you are. You will be in friendship with other children and they will reflect who you are. By and by, everybody is adding to your ego, and everybody is trying to modify it in such a way that you don't become a problem to the society.

Yes you can lose your balance because of an inner ear problem. My mom used to suffer from it a lot and would stagger just like a drunk man would. I heard that taking vitamin B complex would help the problem and she has been taking that for a couple years now and doesn't suffer as often from it as she used to.. Maybe you to can try it.. Good luck.

Yes, I studied this last year in 7th grade. In your inner ear is a fluid that can make you lose your balance.
About your ankle, yes, it may have gotten weaker, but you would have to definitely check with your doctor about that.
Good luck.
