Does anyone besides me find it disturbing that Toyota, a foriegn auto maker has been given permission to compete in the Nextel Cup division of NASCAR ? I realize that Toyota has been competing in the truck division for a number of years and I found that unsettling as well. Has greed and the selling out of America finally reached our most down-home,traditional activities? How long will it be before we have japanese teams in Major League Baseball? Johnny Mantz and Fred Lorenzen must be spinning in their graves!!

FINALLY ANOTHER HUMAN WITH COMMON SENSE!!!
I also find it downright degrading that the NASCAR board is allowin the little tuners and rice burners to enter a American born sport. NASCAR is focused on their own image than in the fan's taste. If they cared about what the fan's wanted, we would still have THE INTIMIDATOR ruling the point standings. Before the Daytona 500 in 2001, the board told all the drivers to put on a killer show. And it turned out to be exactly that. And now they are gunna let some foreign peices of junk come and intoxicate everything that every driver has raced for.
ITS DISGUSTING!!!

In NASCAR years ago Jaguar and other brands of cars like that used to race and they are not American or at least that I know of, and everything and as for like the Majors alot of the people on the roster are not american and they have names you can hardly even pronounce let alone spell so I dont see the difference and the only good thing about Toyota is they wont do well their first year or at least thats what I think and they might even convince NASCAR to make the fuel cells of the car larger so they can get more miles to the gallon and not pollute the air as much or change the car setup so the car uses less fuel and these simple things can help global warming I mean its not like its going to stop overnight but little things can always help and if someone or something famous changes then the world might be prone to change.

Toyota has consistently produced the most American-made cars on the road. The Camrys that Toyota hopes to sell on Monday after they win on Sunday are made with more American labor than the Chargers, Fusions or Monte Carlos that Dodge, Ford and Chevy are making. (The study I looked at does mention that the Ford F-Series and the Chevy Silverado are more American-made, but since we are talking about cars competing in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, the assertion holds.)

The idea of foreign makes coming in is not new, bottom line is there is nothing for them to gain. With Nascar still having 20+ year old tech, they are better off investing in sports car and prototype racing. It's only been recently that Nascar got fuel injection technology, and many in the sport are hesitant to bring anymore technology in. I had no problem with Toyota, I'm was surprised by their success and Dodge's demise. I think Toyota made things better, pushed the other manufactures to step it up.

A jaguar raced in a cup race in the 50's....the jag won. As most all of you know.... the only things that are stock on stock cars are the roofs and the hood and trunk lid. the rest is far from it. I own a monte carlo and it was assembled in CANADA. I really think that nascar's greed will create more problems as it goes along. They need to also make rules in black or white, not the hendrick racing book written in gray.I feel toyota has just as much right to be here.

Toyota will be competing in NASCAR next season for one reason and one reason only ... money.

And, God willing, Toyota will make a complete mess out of NASCAR like they've done to every other form of motorsport they've been involved in over the last 20 years. It's gonna be fun to watch the hillbillies when the scorched earth portion of the program begins.

I think its because by the end of 2007 Toyota will be the #1 auto maker in the world.

Well Rick not you particularly, but when you talk about "selling out" the average american has to look themselves in the mirror and call themselves a sell out. As Toyota has dominated american made vehicles this past fiscal year. So if your a business owner and you lead the american market in vehicle sales wouldn't it make sense for you to throw your hat into the ring where you can get even more exposure than you already have? Because that's what toyota is doing and you can't blame them. We can only blame ourselves

Nascar has an old saying and it is still true today. Win on Sunday sell on Monday. Toyota wants to sell more cars. Nascar wants to get more money.

Welcome to the year of tolerance.

There ARE Asian players in basketball, black have played in almost any sport for years now, and a Mexican (Jorge something, don't remember) competed last year in a NEXTEL cup race.

Don't let it bug you. Finally, NASCAR is expanding it's horizon and opening the market for other contenders. Are you just nervous that Toyota might beat the doors off of Ford, Chevy or Dodge?
