My boyfriend got arrested for possession with intent to sell marijuana 2 days ago, and they also impounded his car. I was wondering if there are ways where I could help him get his car out from the impound? Because he is currently being held in LA County Jail right now, and the car is only under his name. Thanks in advance :)

Yes, they impounded his car because that's where they found the marijuana...

You have to call the arresting agency (the police department that arrested your boyfriend), ask them if there are any holds on the car. If they say no, then find out where the car is being stored at. You want to do this as soon as possible because every day the price of storage goes up. If you find that you can get it out, You'll have to get the paperwork and mail it to him in LA County jail or if he has a lawyer, get his lawyer to take it to him so that he can sign the car over to you. Go to the DMV and get the car transfered to your name and you'll be able to get it out. I wish you all the best of luck!!! They took my husband right before Christmas. If you need any further help, I work for a law office right here in LA.

I'd stay away from this guy. If you had been in the car with him and he was stopped with the drugs you could be in jail now too. I read this one story about a girl who went with her boyfriend to buy drugs. She was holding the money and in the car with him. Their was also some phone calls, I think she ans. the phone and talked to someone about buying drugs for her boyfriend. Now She's IN JAIL and she was not the one using the drugs or buying them. There are some new laws so suggest you find out about them. Stay safe.

If your boyfriend is convicted of the intent to distribute charge he has more to worry about than his car, believe me. If he is in the US on a green card there is a good chance he is going to lose that and be deported. If he is deported he will not be allowed to come back to the states for ten years. You will not be able to get his car. After tearing it apart to look for more drugs it will likely be sold at auction. My advise, find a boyfriend who isnt a pathetic loser...

Doesn't matter whose name the car is in. Possession with intent means the car and everything in it now belong to Uncle Sam and may or may not be sold at an auction sometime after the trial and appeals are over.

If you have the money to waste, why dont you hire an attorney on his behalf and see if that attorney could request that those items be returned to him.
I would think that by now they have turned that suitcase inside and out and found nothing(?)
I would doubt that you would be able to do it on your own however...
I hope that when he gets out, he appreciates all of your love an concern.
