1. Take out any weaves or braids in your hair.
2. Start with a professional haircut to give yourself the best possible starting point for long, healthy hair.
3. Wash and condition your hair normally.
4. If you have to use a hair dryer, lightly blow dry your hair, using a brush as you do it. In general, it is best to avoid hot rollers, curling irons, or dryers as they will damage hair and make long hair less attractive over time.
5. At night, put your hair in a ponytail and braid it, then roll it up into a bun and tie it up. (You do this so when you sleep you don't toss and turn and pull your hair out on your pillow!) If your hair is fine, skip this step and avoid elastic hair ties which will break the hair at the point where they are used. Hair under tension tends to break and you want your hair LONG!
6. Consider an oil treatment (hot or regular) every week. If your hair isn't very dry, a good conditioner used with every wash will suffice.
7. Wash your hair once every one and a half weeks (about every ten days) if your hair is kinky or nappy. Fine, straight hair will require washing every other day to look healthy. Use a non-drying shampoo and a good conditioner.
8. If your hair is naturally dry do not wash it too often as it will strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving it even drier.

Hair does not grow much in a week. Probably no more than 1/16 of an inch.

Start using products what will stimulate growth, such as Castor oil, cocnut oil etc. Hollywood Beauty has a great line. Also optimum in the yellow bottles. Start treating your hair, and doing what's essential for it to grow healthy. I promise in a month or two you'll see a difference.

You can never know when your hair will grow it is all about your health and how good you take care of it. And I don't even know how long your hair is right now.

No, not at all. It grows so little each week you hardly notice. You can get extensions, but they can be very expensive. If you want your hair long next week, try Hair-U-Wear clip in hair pieces. I think they cost about $80, but you can wear them with your hair down, up, however you want!
