Depends on what you define as long , I ve just seperated from my partner after 13 years together and I would define that as a long lasting relationship . If you mean can one couple stay together for all of there days then ofcourse they can , But as with everything it is very much based on the individuals . However just because a couple split after 13 years as I did does that mean that we didnt have a long term relationship . In my eyes yes we did .

It depends on how you define "work". Do you mean can long term relationships stay monogamous? Or do you mean can people stay together a long time without wanting to kill each other? People are not meant to be monogamous - it's a biological fact, despite the wishes of most people. People can, however, stay in long-term relationships and enjoy each other for many years.

Some do, but some people stay in a relationship purely for the sake of it (kids etc).

relationships/marriage/love is hard work, but if your really into the other person then yes they do work and when they do its the greatest feeling in the world!

That's how they become long term...because they work!! If you meant long distance, then I would say if you both work at it.
