china definetely..the ppl are nice:]
japan i guess so. but japan copied china in some stuff. like their writing, the tea, and the styles of the house (pavilions, etc.) so you wouldnt be seeing the original stuff.
hmm i havent been to japan so i cant really so if the ppl are nice or not. judging from other ppl's answers they seem to think the japanese are nicer. that may be true but once the japanese get violent, they are REALLY VIOLENT. srry just had to emphasize that point, especially after reading the book "The Rape of Nanking" some insights of the novel: The Rape of Nanking: An Undeniable History in Photographs tells the story in words and more than 400 photographs of the Japanese invasion of China and the sacking of its capital city, Nanking, in 1937-38.

Between December 1937 and March 1938 at least 369,366 Chinese civilians and prisoners of war were slaughtered by the invading troops. An estimated 80,000 women and girls were raped; many of them were then mutilated or murdered.

THE SAVAGERY OF THE KILLING WAS AS APPALLING AS ITS SCALE.

Thousands of victims were beheaded, burned, bayoneted, buried alive, or disemboweled.

To this day the Japanese government has refused to apologize for these and other World War II atrocities, and a significant sector of Japanese society denies that they took place at all.

search on google and you can even find pics of the brutal rapes and murders...

i have read that there was this nazi soldier that was absolutely shocked when he heard exactly how the chinese ppl have suffered in the hands of the japanese and all cuz the japanese wanted more land for their own gain

well im sure both places are worth visiting ..i hope you enjoy your vacation:]

Ni-hao! We spend several weeks in Guizhou/Zunyi City PR China every year, two of our daughters were born in China so we go back every year to their home province.

The Chinese people are wonderful. They are friendly and helpful and absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend you curtail your strong western ways, and make some effort to learn the basics of communicating vital needs and thank-yous. If you are polite and kind, they will be in return. Try to be a guest, not a tourist. Respect their formalities, and in return they will accept your western eccentricities. I highly recommend you purchase a book on Chinese public customs so you know some of the basic etiquette. The Chinese people are amazing, my family is always very comfortable and we feel very safe in China. They are very indulgent with us because we try so hard to fit in and not stand out. My two teenage very blond daughters have learned to accept that people who haven't seen blond hair will probably stare and ask if they can touch their hair, but we stay in farming communities with families, so you probably won't encounter much of that. Be a guest and not a visitor. I highly recommend everyone in the West visit at least one Asian country with the open mind that the Asian people have when they visit the West. Just understand, that the further you move into the interior, away from the large cities, the more local the language gets and the more difficulty you will have. Hire a local bi-lingual guide, pay them well and they will take care of you. ** A smile goes a long way anywhere, just be nice and they will be too.**

Mean? No! At most I would say many of them are rude in our eyes. I have been living in China now for just over one year and have not met any mean people so far... only rude ones.

But I have to say I have met some real friendly people as well.

Don't forget you are the foreigner among them, you look different and many people might stare at you or even follow you for a few moments. Talk about you and have fun while you'll try buying something. But as I said, I haven't met any mean people here.

I recommend going to Japan because China might scare you a little. Chinese people are not mean, but they can be rude. They don't act mean intentionally, but some Chinese people may not be educated well enough to tell what's nice and what's rude/impolite. Also in China, there's more shoving and pushing. Can't blame them though because they have such a big population if they don't shove or push a bit they can never get to the place they want or get the things they want. Chinese people can be very nice though and they can be very helpful if you get to know them.

China and Japan are totally different. When I was traveling in Japan the people were REALLY super nice. Chinese people are nice to but thier culture is just less polite and more loud. But they are not mean in any way.

If you like China then yes. Chinese people aren't mean, I don't think. You can't really judge them as if they were one person. It's impossible. You are always going to have some one mean come along and bite you in the a s s. Just stay positive and enjoy the trip!

China is a great big country, and the people are warm and friendly. They are definetely not MEAN! they are my good friends.

most definately!!! People are just people every where you go, you will find evil, dispicable people in every race, in every country, even close to your own house, but you will more than likely find a lot more really super nice people. Want to have more fun on your trip, start learning the language.

Some people say it's the best place to go in the world, but I've never heard people say anything about the people there.
