I feel for you. I just put my 16 year old cocker down in August. When they stop eating and drinking it's time. I'm sorry I know it will be hard but you don't want your friend to suffer.

If your dog is suffering please put her down. If you don't think she is just be with her , talk to her in a gentle voice and keep her comfortable. She has been with you for 16 happy years it is time for her to go to Rainbow Heaven. I know how hard this is for you, I have been through it so many times and it never gets easier. Just be with her, and if you have to take her to the vet to put her down just hold her and let her know you are with her. I am so sorry about your dog. It makes me cry knowing what you are going through right now.

Don't let her suffer. She's starving and dehydrated, both can be painful.
She's lived a long life, hopefully most of it was happy. As much as you love her, you must do what's best for her.
Have her put to sleep. She'll be in a better place where there's no pain or suffering. Let her go, it is selfish to keep a suffering dog alive because you want/need it.

Ask your vet about their owned animal euthanasia procedures. Most vets will allow you to be present when she is put down, if you would like to be. They may also have options available for private cremation, if you would like her ashes returned to you. I am an animal control officer and have euthanized animals myself, and can assure you if it's done right, the process is very humane and allows your pet to pass on with dignity. Sorry about your dog.

Yes, I lost one at about the same age. He wouldn't eat or drink, and he just lay there staring at me. He knew it was time for him to go, I'm sure.
I'm so sorry, I know this is such a hard thing to do, but he is telling you that it's time. My sympathy to you.
