I used the rescue remedy when OFSTED visited by school, it is ok tastes a bit like an old alcholic tonic my Nan used to take but I can't remember what it was called. I think it works and I put one in each of my daughter's xmas stockings this year

I think that they are excellent for your run of the mill healthy vegetarian socially stable and otherwise completely normal person that is just having an off day or week or month...

For a serious mental disorder or personality disorder, I do not believe that they are strong enough or effective enough in the doses provided to make any kind of a real or long lasting difference. Especially considering the fact that mental disorders are often rooted in diet and history and actual chemical makeup. FLower essences are not good enough to heal something that serious!

But since mental disorders are just that... mental and often times a placebo will work as well as a pharmaceutical depending on the person and the extent of their illness... Who knows? Stranger things have happened!

It has been said that the Bach flower remedies are the only alternative medicines that give consistent healing. They are supposed to be very good.

I used to work in Holland and Barrett and had regular customers coming back to buy them as they thought they were great.

I've only ever tried the Bach rescue remedy, and it did seem to work but i also think its more psychological than anything else!

They do work but are subtle & take time. You might also like Austarlian Bush Flower Remedies which are abit more modern & cater for all "the new age" illnesses.

This is what I wrote to sofi (hola, sofi:) on the same subject, yesterday:
I have been using Bach Flower Remedies on both myself and my children for a couple of years now, with lovely, life-confirming results.

Some of the remedies work through achieving a subtle but complete change of attitude and emotional make-up, and others bring on quite a dramatic change in a person, so that you could almost hear the clanking of the invisible chains as they fall off.

To use the remedies on yourself, though, you'd need a huge amount of good old honesty in order to be able to correctly recognise and identify the 'flows' of your own Personality.
It would be wise to see a properly qualified Bach Flower practitioner until you get to grips with both your own Personality/Soul connection, and the way that the Remedies work.

Here's some more information, so you could decide for yourself if this is something you could use to make positive changes in you life. Good luck!

Dr Edward Bach dedicated his life to understanding illness and disease and to helping people to overcome the problems that they faced in life. His life's journey took him from orthodox allopathic medicine, through bacteriology, homoeopathy and onto the Flower Remedies for which he is now so well known. During his life's journey he gradually began to understand what he considered to be the root causes of illness and disease, and the philosophy they he developed is as simple as it is profound. He knew at a very deep level that life on the physical plane of existence was meant to be a conscious partnership between our personality selves ( mind and emotion ) and the part of ourselves that is eternally connected to our Creator – the Soul; i.e. to have a conscious connection between mind, body and spirit. When these aspects of ourselves function in absolute harmony, then we experience balance at all levels of our being. This message is basically the same message that all of the great Sages and Masters of the past have given to humanity. It represents the unchanging truth of the Universe and one that we still collectively need to remember in order for us to be able to bring our world and ourselves into balance and harmony. You can hear this message time and again in Dr Bach’s work as he seeks to remind humanity of this innate knowledge that is held deeply within all of us.
The 38 Bach Flower Remedies were developed as tools that would help us to rise above the limited vision that we carry at a personality level and connect us with the true Essence of ourselves.

Each remedy is a correcting vibration for a state of mind or emotion that needs to be gently rebalanced. Since the body is a direct reflection of the mind, transforming negative vibrations into positive good vibrations allows the body to respond naturally with better health.

Bach Flower Remedies can be taken by anyone, safely and without fear of side effects, overdosing or addiction. While they are not intended to replace medical treatment where necessary, they can be used in conjunction with, and to compliment, any other form of medicine. Since flower remedies work on a higher vibrational frequency they will not interfere with other forms of treatment. Animals and plants will also benefit greatly. No harm comes from choosing the wrong remedy as it will cancel itself out if not needed.

I know loads of people that use them and swears by it. I personally think they taste like pure alcohol and find them disgusting tasting. Warning if anyone is an ex-alcoholic they should not use them.:)
