Depending upon what state your in and the BAL from the breathalizer will determine if he can get one or not. But if he blew a low BAL (blood alcohol level) then he can always try to apply.

You can call your state DMV, request an application for a temp work permit or he may be able to do it over the phone, again, depending upon the state laws.

He will recieve his permit in approximately a week or so, and will only be allowed to drive during the hours noted on the temp. permit. They are very strict about this, so don't mess around here. If this is a repeated offence, he may be denied. There might also be a 'special' license plate to affix to his vehicle as well. Be prepared to be pulled over at any given time for little or no reason at all! They need no reason to pull you over during this time and it is annoying. Good luck!

Nope ... If he gets a lenient Judge he might grant him a temporary license but mostly likely the Judge will suspend his license and tell him to find a ride to work.

Now he can go and get a duplicate license before he goes to court but if the judge orders a suspension DMV has to uphold that and there is no way around it even if he has the duplicate license.

Sorry but no he will not be able to get a temporary licence. If he is lucky the court may grant him an occupational licence that he can only use to go back and forth to work. But he will have to wait to go to court first. In the meantime he is going to have to figure out some other arrangements.

There are a lot of answers here but no one has specifically addressed one particular issue. It depends on the state!

Here in NC, you lose your license as soon as you are charged with DUI. I have my doubts on the constitutionality of that but it can, and does, happen. NC also does not permit "work" licenses. If you get banned you don't get behind the wheel at all until the ban is over.

Yes you can get a license that is just for driving to and from work. Contact either your local police department or the DMV on how to get a work license. However if he does get caught driving other placers than his work then that will not be good news!

Dont try it. Wait until he goes for his hearing and explain to the courts he needs a license in order to get to and from work. Depending on the judge it might be ok's. Then again the judge just might tell him to take the bus, have you take him to and from, ride a bike, take a cab. That will be determined by the judge.

Usually they have to contact the DMV/RMV (Department of Motor Vehicles, or Registry of Motor Vehicles) depends on which state you live in. That's the agency that can assist him in getting a restricted license, or cinderalla license.

Some states say that once you have an OUI/DUI, you cannot get any form of license until after you're proven innocent, or finish probation....

He will have to go to court and request a hardship license.

And sorry If I can't feel sorry for him, since driving while you are drunk is one of the most serious things I can think of.

He has a problem. and he will havve to present this to the oourt that he admits his problem and is working on it,
going to AA or other treatment would go along way witht he court

No, he has to wait to be in front of the judge and then ask the judge for a waiver for back and forth to work.

Let him walk, much easier than doing time for vehicular manslaughter if he had killed someone. He needs to learn a lesson, let him learn it!!! If he loses his job, tough ****.

ZERO tolerance for drunk drivers, scraped way too many innocent people out of their cars after some asshole like your son hit them.

nope. He's going to have to figure something else out till he goes to court. Usually they will give 30 days w/no liscense at all, then grant a work permit. Good luck
