The Bible doesn't say masturbation is a sin, however it does say that lust is a sin, and masturbation brings lust.
The Bible also tells us not to give into the desires of the flesh. Masturbation is just that, a desire of the flesh.

I do believe it is a sin if you believe it is. I also believe it is a form of fornication, sex outside of marriage, nowhere does it say it has to be with another person. And then it falls under lust. Some teach this some don't. But nowhere does the Bible teach it is a mortal sin, matter of fact the Bible teaches sin is sin. We have already been forgiven by His sacrifice. As Jesus said "Go and sin no more" but if you do accept the forgiveness that is yours.

Masturbation is NOT a sin for ANYONE! It is however healthy and stress relieving.

If you have any doubts please read the information I have given below...it will answer ALL your questions on this matter. As for masturbation being a sin for Catholics...only your church has said so; not the Bible.

Should you or anyone else like to know more about what is and isn't sin in the Bible concerning sexual matters please email me.

I've never seen anything in the scriptures that teaches against masturbation of itself. Sure, Onan was condemned for having masturbated, but that was because he did it so as not to father children for his brother, Er, not necessarily just for the act of masturbation.

By the way, DT, what "psychological and biological harm" are caused by masturbation??

When you masturbate are you violating the intention of the Creator? If you are asking this question and honestly dont have a clue, may I suggest that you have bigger problems. You cant just know about God, you either get to know Him personally or you know Him not at all.

It's a sin all right. For Romanian Pentecostals, at least.

It is, but it shouldn't be. Natural Instinct should not be a sin, anymore than pooping or breathing is a sin.

Since about 99.9% of people all over the world do it, have done it or are doing it right now...I'd conclude it's just a part of being human. Regardless of any religious beliefs.

Protestant is very close to Catholic so probably. I think it is considered "lust".
