One of the master's at my dojhan asked this Friday night. I know it's for cleanliness and tradition but what else?

White symbolizes the purity of spirit which is required to excel in martial arts... one must be able to put aside petty earthly concerns and transcend to a higher state of being in order to tap into the inner strength which most of us possess but never use. You must forge your body in the fire of your will, and that requires purity, hence the white uniform.

I think that tradition comes from Japan. I don't know the reason for it.

They're not all white. Some are blue, some are black, and I have even seen some that are red, white and blue. American States has those.

its actually because back in the day how dirty and stained your uniform was symbolized how hard you trained.
