I lie too much to my friends. My friend who is dark skinned and fat, complains and be sad about her skin color and her being fat. So, I be nice to her and tell her a lie, So, I say
"Your so crazy, your so beautiful, your skin is not dark, come on now, your not fat, your just average weight looking."
That's all a lie. What should I do? Keeping lying to people to make them feel good about themselves because I seem to do that all the time.

a lie that makes others feel good is not considered a lie well at least in my opinion its raising your friends self confidence or at least making her feel better that's being a good friend just don't start to lie about other things happy new year!

Not everyone has the strength required to tell their friends the truth, and even when people do, not all friends have the strength or maturity to hear the truth.
We all tell little white lies, and if someone comes on here and says that they never have, I am perfectly confident in saying that they are 100% full of crap. We have all told a large girl she's not fat, or told someone it's not so bad when they come back from the hairdresser looking like they plugged their head into a 240 V electrical outlet after dousing it in salt water.
If you don't like lying, tell the truth, but be warned, people aren't always going to appreciate it, in fact, most won't.

It sounds to me like you are coddling your friend and your getting sick of it. Instead of telling her that her skin is indeed dark and she is fat maybe you could try another tactic. Less harmful to your friends ego and if she is that fat, possibly you.
Why dont you ask her why these things upset her. Why is she not happy with her looks? Does she plan on changing the things she can? How can she lose weight? Does she need help finding resources to solve her issues?
I would tell her that hearing her put herself down constantly upsets you because you feel like you cannot help her. If you ask her logical questions that make her think about what she is saying she might focus less on the issue and more on the solution. I think this might help her more then little white lies.
As for your question about why you lie to people to make them feel better about themselves? You do it because you are a friend =)
Good Luck!

HeLLo there...
hey, sometime's Lie can be the solution, you Know???
I think there are thousands of people that done the same thing like what you've done....
and I think your friend must have known 'bout your reaction, that all that you've said is becoz you are a good friend, and don't want your friend become depressed right???
You know, maybe if you don't say that kinda thing to your friend, she will feel depressed and you will become more confuse than you are now, becoz you are regret that why you didn't lie to her, right????
so Don't be very confused.ok???you're not a bad person!!!!

Sometimes a lie is a good thing. If you lie to spare someone's feelings it isn't going to hurt anybody. You are just being a good friend. If you just lie for no reason about everything, you have a problem.

sounds to me like your a good Friend. That's what Friends are for, to pull you up when your down. Its OK, to tell little lies to make someone feel better. That's not even really a lie, its just a false opinion. But one that makes your Friend feel good.

Well, if you are to tell them the truth them they would feel terriable, but then again if they are your friends that really shouldn't be putting you in a uncomfatorable place. So you should just tell them that you would rather not answer those type of questions.Or you could just be totaly honest and mabye they will feel so bad about themself that they will do something about, like get off the couch and run or something.

anyone who canstantly complains about that will end up one day hearing the truth be it from you or someone else. Next time she complains tell her that she is the one who has to look at herself and feel good about it not you and that if she is so unhappy with it then change it. If she is not willing then tell her to shut up. Your not lieing to her but your not insulting her either.

If your tired of lieing all the time just don't respond at all. Its better to not respond then to hurt someones feelings.

Everbody tells "little white lies" to not hurt feelings. That's just trying to be nice. I'm sure other people do it for you, too. Unless you think you're perfect?
