is there a cable that can connect a coaxial plugin to a optical plugin? (its my ps3 to my surround sound)?

my playstation 3 has a optical plugin for surround sound but my surround sound has a digital coaxial plugin, is there any cable or anything that can connect the two plugins?

Yes, there are several. Try searching for "coaxial to optical digital converter". They are relatively inexpensive, but are also not a very COMMON part, so its unlikely that you can just shoot down to Radio Shack to get one, you'll probably need to order it online for find a more hard-core electronics shop in your area.
