If you want a toy dog the best that I would say is a Yorkie, because it is a tuff dog for its size. Or a Toy Poodle for intellegents, which makes it easy to train, but it depends on the dog on how tuff it is. If u want a larger dog any terrer is a good dog. I just got minture schnauzer and I love him. He shouldn't get any bigger then 15 lbs.

This is a tough question. It really depends on these factors:
1. How much time are you able/want to spend grooming him/her?
2. How big is your apartment/home?
3. How much time are you willing to spend training him/her?
4. How big of a yard (if at all) do you have?
5. Do you want him/her to be an outside or inside dog.

But, the best and safest dog has to be the Whippet. (calm, athletic, loving, inside dog, short, smooth little-shedding fur. )Do some research before you commit to ANY breed. And don't forget, the first step to any good dog is a RESPONSIBLE BREEDER! NEVER BUY FROM A PET STORE! These dogs often come from puppy mills and were mistreated as young puppies, therefore have hidden behavioral problems. A good reference would be Dogs USA. It's a yearly magazine with tons of great info for prospective owners and it's got a breed directory in the back.

If you need any more info, feel free to email me!

I have a mini Dachsund, I just love her! They play, get along with others (human and animal) They have long or short hair, the long hair doxies are easy to brush, and my little girl LOVES to get dressed up. I put her coat on when we go somewhere. The ladies at Pet's Mart just love to see her come in!
You need to remember that your choice in a dog needs to include: your time, cost (some dogs require more), adult or puppy, registered or mutt (mutts are just as good). The best place to start looking is your local shelter, you never know what you will find there. You can also volunteer a day a week, maybe that will help you decide which breed you are looking for.
Either way, good luck on your choice!

Get a dog from a shelter or rescue. You obviously don't have time to train a puppy. The breed isn't nearly as important as how the dog fits your lifestyle, time you have to attend to it, can afford all the things a dog needs; vet, food, bowls, spay/neuter (which will already be done at a shelter/rescue) toys, crate, gate to keep it out of things like trash cans or anywhere it can chew up a cord or break things that mean a lot to you.
Well good luck!

chihuahua. It is completely up to what kind of personality you want, how much grooming you want to do, how much time you have for the dog, and all of that. You should go to different websites to research the different types of dogs. I always go to dogbreedinfo.com just for fun, but they have a lot of information, and a TON if different dog breeds. But i personally like shelties, they are more of a small/medium sized dog, and they need a lot of grooming, but they are worth it, they are beautiful and VERY sweet. Or you can always visit your local animal shelter to find a small dog that is in need of a home. THey have pure breed dogs, and mix breed dogs. You can visit petfinder.com to find local animal shelters in your area, and to see some of the dogs in your area that need homes. Good Luck, and i hope you find your new friend!

a Pomeranian!! they are not as yappy as everyone makes them out to be. I live in a apartment with two of them and i have never had a complaint. rocco (my oldest(3)) is so quiet the only time he barks is when someone is at the door. and Chloe (my puppy (almost a year)) only barks when he barks. so its not that bad...
grooming is a pain in the butt. i do a quick brush over with them once a week, and bring them to see a groomer maybe once a year. I give them baths when they are dirty...i mean, its no OVER THE TOP grooming, just a little more then a dog with shorter hair...i have some videos of them on youtube....if you want to check them out. my nickname on there is nicky1119...just do a search.

How about a little more information on what kind of dog you want?

Hair length? Grooming requirements? Do you want one that needs a lot of exercise? What do you want to do with your dog?

Dog breeds are not interchangeable - you need to decide what sort of lifestyle you have, and then decide on the type of dog that fits into that, instead of getting a dog that is totally unsuited for your life.

I have always liked big dogs better but the coolest small dog I have ever had was a Welsh Corgi. They are the cutest and smartest dogs. They are like a big dog but in a small dog's body.

I would do some research on small breed dogs. What kinds of things are you looking for?

Temperament?
Shedding?
Long hair/short hair?
High maintenance/low maintenance?
Price?

There are a lot of good and cute dogs out there! Good luck!
