I'm a professional massage therapist, nationally certified and state licensed, with nearly double the CEU's required to maintain my professional standing. Up until now, I've hesitated to tell a new guy what I do, because I didn't want to have to wonder if he likes me for ME, or if he's more interested in my skills.
Just this morning, a very good (male) friend told me that he'd have a problem dating a massage therapist, and that in his opinion, 50% of the guys 'out there' would too....
Could he be right? Or am I correct in believing that men might be more interested in dating a woman if they knew she was massage therapist rather than, say, an administrative assistant or sales associate?

(And absolutely NO offense intended to administrative assistants or sales associates! I've been both in the past, and I have to say: I've never seen men's eyes light up when I told them that I'm an office worker....)

Oh, for typing out loud!

No, I neither offer nor supply sexual favors of any kind to any of my clients.

Not really. Maybe 30% with a "CEO only" complex!! Other than that yeah, a lot would think of you being a massage therapist as a plus. Maybe cause they realise you're good with your hands?

I personally would not have a problem with dating a certified massage therapist as you are a member of the medical profession just as a nurse, xray tech or lab tech
i think the men you are speaking of are confusing your upstanding profession for a "body rub person" and there is a big BIG difference

I think it depends whether your a professional or if your giving happy endings. If ya catch my drift. Once a man understands that your not running a rub and tug I don't think most would mind, however when you mention your profession a lot will wonder where the massage stops. Be professional, don't work in seedy places and you should be fine.

I don't think there should be a problem with your occupation unless you have been doing things on the side to give the impression that you do more then just give massages.

It probley bothers alot of men because they think that you massage the private parts or are sexually active with your customer. If you are not that way then I dont see a problem with it.

Personally, if a man was bothered by your chosen career, he would probably be a little insecure. When I was stripping I used to hear that from my friends, too. The guys that can separate who you are from what you do for money are the keepers...and they are out there!

Personally, sounds like your friend's problem........
Just so long as you were working in a reputable massage place, and not one that provides "extra services", no problem.

You cant generalise a percentage, it depends on an individual..
Some guys may like it and some guys wont... but if you meet the right guy he wouldnt care what your job is, he will like you for who YOU are!
