When god chucks em out of eden, they are the only ones on earth at that point, right? So in order to populate the earth, somebody had to have sex with Eve, or their daughter, or their sister. But then when cain kills abel, he's cast out into the world and finds a wife. Where did all those people suddenly come from?

I've never understood this at all. Any help I'll appreaciate, thanks

The people are never really there. The bible has contradictions just like this one. In order for the population from Adam and Eve to occur they would have to have incest which would then make EVERYONE a brother and sister. When cain and abel were around there were other people too and when cain was cast out he went to a different town and found a wife since there is so many people by then.

Genesis 4:17 says, "Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch." Who was his wife? It is implied in the biblical text that Cain married one of his sisters. Several facts lead us to this conclusion.
First, it is clear that Adam and Eve had a number of children. Genesis 5:4 says, "After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters." Since Adam and Eve were the first man and woman, and since God had commanded them (and their descendants) to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28), it seems reasonable to conclude that Cain married one of his many sisters. It is also possible that he married a niece or even a grandniece.
One must keep in mind that in the early years of the human race there were no genetic defects that had yet developed as a result of the fall of man. By the time of Abraham, God had not yet declared this kind of marriage to be contrary to His will (see Genesis 20:12). Laws governing incest apparently did not become enacted until the time of Moses (Lev 18:7-17; 20:11,12,14,17,20,21). Hence, there was no prohibition regarding marrying a sister (or niece or grandniece) in the days of Cain.

Eve had other children when they left the gardan. In those times they could intermarry and not have problems. Genesis 4:17 and 14-15 give the impression of an earth already to some extent populated. The simplest way of accounting for this is to assume other, unnamed children of Adam and Eve. This is what I have read and hope this helps. I don't know either.

"And the days of Adam after his fathering Seth came to be eight hundred years. Meanwhile he became father to sons and daughters. So all the days of Adam that he lived amounted to nine hundred and thirty years and he died." -Genesis 5:4

The timeline her was most likely hundreds of years giving time for the other generations for children to grow up.

Cains wife was probably his sister or depending again on how many generations went by, another brothers daughter.

"Now it came about that when men started to grow in numbers on the surface of the ground and daughters were born to them" -Genesis 6:1

At that early stage of human history, when mankind was so close to perfection, such a marriage evidently did not pose the risks for the children of the union that it would today

Personally, I think this whole issue is funny, because it shows religion takes away people's objectivity.

You point this out to Creationists, and they just shake their heads and say something like, "Well, Adam and Eve must have had another daughter that is not mentioned."

But...if they see a flaw in the theory of evolution, regardless of how small (and there are flaws, and scientists are FULLY aware of them, believe it or not), they jump for joy, saying, "See! HAHA! Evolution is just a Satanic lie! Joy joy!"

ADAM AND HIS CHILDREN TO GRANDCHILDREN TO GREAT GRANDCHILDREN

Adam is created to 02nd year has a son named Cain.
Adam is created to 04th year has a son named Abel.
Adam is created to 06th year has a son.
Adam is created to 08th year has a girl.
Adam is created to 28th year has 4 & 4. 12 children. Has 2 granddaughter,
Adam is created to 48th year has 22 children, Cain 46, Abel 44, 42, 40, 38, 36, 34, 32.
Adam is created to 58th year has 25 children, gandchildren and great grandchildren.
Adam is created to 99th year has 45 children, 4 generation and cousins.

Gen.4:25,26 [ Cain slew Abel ], 5: 3 Adam is age 130 when Seth is born.

Adam age 130, Cain age 128, kills Able 126 and Seth is born. Cain takes a wife.

WHAT FATHER COULD BE AGE 130 AND HAVE A SON 128 AND 126, BUT ADAM?

Adam said, Eve was bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh. None could be closer and the incest law was not in the land until 2515 years later with Aaron and Moses.

If you're looking for logic out of the Bible, you're barking up the wrong tree. I'm sure plenty of Christians have all kinds of made up answers for this, but it's all just pointless rationalization, like arguing how many angels can dance on a pin.
