Both cable and satellite look too pricey and carry more than I am interested in. Not to mention I am looking at, for the family, 6 tv's and 3 recorders. Once the FCC cuts off analog signals how can I continue to use over the air signals without purchasing all new gear? Are there adapters, tuners or some type of converter I can get?

Congress has alreay approved that as soon as the FCC cuts of analog transmission, TV users will be able to get up to two coupons, $40 each to purchase converters. Converters should probably cost much less than $60-$100.

FCC has a great web site answering these type of questions

The answer to most of your question is a yes. But you will need the antena or HDTV reciever for either cable, satellite or off air broadcast. To get the true High Deff sound and picture I'd recomend a High Deff capable or ready tv or one that is an HDTV with the HDTV tunner built in. Sorry but that's what our options are. You can still watch HDTV via an old analog system but you loose most of the sound and picture quality.
