I've got just over 14,000 miles on my 06 SEL V6. Hands down the best car I've ever owned. Rides and handles better than my Benz and still gets attention every day. First "zero defect" car I've ever owned.
Ford has a winner with the Fusion and if it's quality is any indicator, Ford has turned the corner and should return with a vengance.
Just wish they offered a manual on the V6!
Note: Contrary to what another poster stated, the Taurus is dead. There are no 2007 model year Tauruses according to Ford's website.

YES!!!! Ford built a Winner already the reliability reports are coming back placing this as the #2 most reliable car second only to the Lexus it takes out Honda/Accura Nissan/Infinity and Toyota for reliability.--Just so everyone will realize something. Ford will NEVER go out of business neither will GM or Dodge/Chrysler. In the 80's Dodge/Chrysler was Bankrupt on the verge of closing up and calling it over when the Federal Government stepped in and told GM and Ford to Bail them out if GM or Ford were to ever reach rock rock bottom the government would step in and do the same for them that they did for Chrysler/Dodge. Ford and GM both have record sales and record profits and Ford still sells more F-150s Alone than ALL of the import manufacturers full truck selections combined and More F-series trucks than any other US truck manufacturer and has for 30+ years

What a great car, its doing very well in its class, its outselling its competition and its very dependable, proven. fords first car to be completely designed on computer. Toyota may be the up and coming #1 manufacturer, but thats something they're learning about too, reliability starts to go down. Ford being bought by Toyota!?!? The difference between Ford and GM is that Ford has cash, billions in reserve, remember when restructuring you have to expend a lot of money in buying out your people retraining coss money. Ford is a solid brand and will be Ford for a long time. Ford should be commended for taking care of their people, even after they let them go.

supposed to get decent gas mileage? why don't you check it yourself? it is easy, first fill it up at the gas station and zero the trip odometer. then the next time you get gas, fill it and write down how many miles you have driven. then divide miles by gallons and that will show your MPG.
I rented a ford 500 and was suprised how nice it was, I would definitely rent one again. but I do not know how long the cars last, so I would not buy a ford. and my 92 tercel gets approx 34mpg on the highway after 260,000km (164,300mi) so I want better mpg in the next car.
it is probably a nice car, but ford is losing boatloads of money as a company. It decided americans do not want fuel effeicient cars and made too many explorers, etc.
make sure you change the oil and do at least the reccomended maintenance. since the carmakers report "cost to own" they understate things like oil change frequency.
If you do this and dont drive like its a race car, it should last a long time

From what i've heard, japanese cars are the upcomers in the mobile industry. Toyota is second in veichles sold during the 2006 year beating Ford and still trailing GM. Ford might have built a winner with the Fusion but Toyota will be the number one producer in the world in the near future.

Do Ya Think? ! ? !
It's on the cover of Consumer Report Magazine (December)!
This car is definitely a WINNER !
Even the old faithful Camry people are trading for Fusions.
(Not surprising though, the 07 Camry has all kinds of problems)
It's available now in an all wheel drive version & I'm pretty sure it will also get a Hybrid version soon.
Glad you're enjoying yours!

Well if market forecasts provide any information, no Ford is not set to make a come back. This has been one of their toughest years, and this comes just two years after the news they would be shutting several production plants. Ford is currently in negotiations to sell to Toyota, and the buyout will probably begin late 2007. Toyota is now the largest automobile producer in the world, and if it takes over Ford, we can expect to see a shift in their designs. For too long Ford and GM have ignored the public concern over emission producing vehicles, and continued building large gas hogging SUV's. Now they have to pay the piper.
