I'm only a family genealogist, but have subscribed to rootsweb.com newsletter for years. As I recall there are some challenges for families from this country, since back in the "old country" names changed every generation. In fact, I understand some families made up (not just Americanized) names when they emigrated. In case you don't already know, chances are really good that even if the name stayed essentially the same as in "the old country" the spelling of your family's name probably changed. So keep that in mind and don't stay wedded to just "your" family's name as it is today.
Start out with www.rootsweb.com and on bottom left part of home site is a section that says Message Boards, Localities. Select Scandinavian and you'll find several message boards where folks might be able to help you out. The whole rootsweb site is full of info on how to do searches and how to find old documents that might list parents' names and country of origin. If you're lucky you might find your family in the Ellis Island data or in a Family History center's database. www.cyncislist.com is another huge genealogy resource and seems to have a large Swedish index, including info about history, culture and a "how-to" section. Do you know when your family emigrated? I gather some Swedish families have been in America for 5+ generations. There are many other genealogy search sites if you want to pay.
