I have a friend that is doing LA weight loss and has lost about 40 pounds so far. She had to come about $2000 out of pocket up front though. She explained to me that she gets some of it back if she reaches her goal weight and maintains it for a year. The way it works is they make you pay for all weeks of weight loss and your maintenance weeks plus all your protein bars up front. It is a "self governed" program; there are no pre-made meals. You have to keep track of what to eat and you have to meet with a weight loss consultant 2/3 times per week to monitor your progress. It is based on the theory that you have to "reprogram" your eating habits and change your lifestyle for permanent weight loss.

Jenny Craig on the other hand provides you with 3 pre-cooked meals per day. They are calorie counted and nutritionally balanced. If you stick to the program, you will loose weight; it's like having a nutritionist/chef on staff 24/7. I am not sure how the maintenance phase works as I am not sure that the Jenny Craig program teaches you "healthy eating".

Good Luck. Which ever program you choose, you will be successful as long as you are committed. Also, have you considered Weight Watchers. They have been around for years and they are a lot cheaper and just as effective as the other options.

I was in Santa Fe recently and had to laugh when i saw an LA Weightloss location. We in Los Angeles have never heard of LA
Weightloss! It is a sham to use the 'LA' in their name. Maybe it means Louisanna...? ha!
Jenny Craig has been the main weightloss business in LA.

I dont' know much about LA Weightloss, but my friend lost lots of weight when she was on JC. Of course, she did that for her wedding and looked fabulous. Then she stopped, and gained it all back. She's not very active though, and likes to eat junk food (don't we all?) so just be careful not to waste your results when you complete whichever program you choose.

Both of them cost a lot of money for something that you can do for FREE!!!

I lost 30 lbs in 3 months using http://www.sparkpeople.com which is a completely FREE weight loss website. It has tons of good tips, recipes, a chat area for members and the best thing is the food tracker which tracks all of your calories, fat, carbs, protein and fibre and water consumed each day!!! It's great!!! Try this first before going out to spend hundreds of dollars needlessly.

Do not go for a diet fad, all our bodies are different, so why follow the same diet for all of them? Here are some tips to help you lose weight!

Drink at least 8 glasses of cold water every day. Cold water actually uses up calories because your body can't use the water when it is too cold, so it uses energy to heat it up.

*Stop drinking soda and sugary juices all together, they do nothing but harm your body.

*Eat smaller meals, but more meals throughout the day. Never skip a meal, because you skip a meal, overeat at the next meal, feel bad, skip another meal, overeat again, ect. DOES NOT WORK!

*Veggies and fruits are your friends! Plus, eating pomigranite (the actual fruit) can curb your appetite, plus it will take you a full hour to pick out all that stuff in the actual fruit :)

*When you eat, be sure to sit up straight and have a little pillow on your lower back. This will help your brain realize it is full. It takes the brain 15-20 minutes to realize you are full!

*When you eat, take 3 bites, a sip of cold water, 3 bites, sip of cold water. This will help your brain realize it is full.

*Get smaller plates and smaller knives and forks. Why? Studies show that a group of people with big bowls and giant spoons will eat TONS of ice cream before full. While people who have little bowls and need to eat the ice cream with tiny sample spoons still eat that little bowl of ice cream, and they feel satisfied and full!
