I find it hard to believe that many of the stasi officials are still living in germany now and many of them face the same persecution that east germans did before..

Hey *MG* - you are actually a lifesaver - i can't see your e-mail =(
I'm supposed to be writing an essay on how the stasi controlled people's lives in east germany - on the last few bits now but if you could help that would be amazing! it's okay if you don't want to - amazing answers already deserve 10 points for both!!!

EDIT! I think I can see your email so I´m trying to send you one now. :)

FORGET BABELFISH, these internet translation machines are bs. BIG bs. They don´t pay attention to grammar and idiomatics.

Seems you need a longer translation as you´ve asked something similar to this before. Can you see my mail address? If you want to, send the text to me, I´ll do it, I´m half German. :)

Es ist schwer nachzuvollziehen dass viele der ehemaligen Stasi-Offiziere heute immer noch in Deutschland leben und sich dort mit derselben Verfolgung auseinandersetzen müssen wie die Ostdeutschen zuvor.

Note: That sentence you wrote doesn´t really make sense with regards to the content. Do you find it hard to believe they still live without being punished for what they did? But then, you say the face the same persecution... I can tell you they don´t....? You got me irritated. :)

I don't know, but try Babel fish. do a Google search for the words "Babel fish", to get to their website. Their auto-translations are much improved since last year. i've had them checked with native Spanish speakers here in Miami. They tell me they are accurate.
