So is it the entire pregnancy that women can't have lunch meat? Can we heat it up then put it in the fridge?

you can have deli meats--just make sure you heat them to steaming hot in the microwave--and dont go overboard with them
-just a sandwich or two here and there--dont make it an everyday thing.

you can have deli cheeses too--just nothing 'crumbly' or soft--those are aged with bacteria

I've never even heard that about lunch meat before, and I'm on my fourth pregnancy. I'm no doctor, but I'd say if you want a turkey & swiss, have two of 'em! There are enough things forbidden to us without throwing lunch meat into the mix. I would think that if you exercise the same common sense that you would about any other food and making sure that it's still fresh, then what's the harm?

You can eat them. Just make sure theyre safe. The cheeses are always going to be fine. Its the deli meats that they worry about.

DONT HEAT THEM UP AND STICK THEM BACK IN THE FRIDGE!! that just grows bacteria. ick. You can heat up a portion if you want to eat it, but throw away what isnt eaten after you heat it. And unless you COOK it, you're not making a difference. The meat has to get back up over 120 degrees to kill off any new growth. Its usually just not worth it.

But honestly, I've eaten them my entire pregnancy, my mom ate them through all three of hers, everyone I know eats deli meat, and no one ever gets sick off of it. Just ask them how fresh it is, and eat it within a day or two of buying it. Its common sense. Its a coked meat product that is stored in a cooler until you eat it. You wouldnt pull old cooked meat out of the fridge after a week and munch on it, its the same idea with deli meats.

I've never heard of this...wow. I was a meat-a-holic during pregnancy. That's interesting.

ok I know there are many VERY over protective people but it is ok once in a while. If anything go to the deli and get it.( so it will be fresh as possible!!)
