It doesn't say who blasphemes God is unforgiven, but the Holy Spirit. I think the only way to blaspheme the Holy Spirit is in the rejection of Christ. Let me connect the dots in my opinion. When we accept Christ we are endwelled by the Holy Spirit. Blaspheme means to deny. If we deny the existance of the Holy Spirit, then it is like saying that everything Christ did was false or for naught. e.g. We crucify him again with our disbelief. As I said this is my opinion. I feel also that the only way someone can blaspheme the Holy Spirit is if they have felt it's power, then deny it's existance. For a reference in the Bible look to where the Jews that converted to Christianity through Paul and Peter's teachings reverted to Judaism when they were persecuted.

"For example, whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him, no, not in this system of things nor in that to come" -Matthew 12:32
Actually THIS is the only unforgivable sin.
When you said permanately "turn your back" you actually hit it on the head.
It is normally viewed as Apostasy from the faith.
An apostasy among professed Christians was foretold by the apostle Paul at 2 Thessalonians 2:3. He specifically mentioned certain apostates, such as Hymenaeus, Alexander, and Philetus. (1Ti 1:19, 20; 2Ti 2:16-19) Among the varied causes of apostasy set forth in apostolic warnings were: lack of faith (Heb 3:12), lack of endurance in the face of persecution (Heb 10:32-39), abandonment of right moral standards (2Pe 2:15-22), the heeding of the “counterfeit words” of false teachers and “misleading inspired utterances” (2Pe 2:1-3; 1Ti 4:1-3; 2Ti 2:16-19; compare Pr 11:9), and trying “to be declared righteous by means of law” (Ga 5:2-4). While still making profession of faith in God’s Word, apostates may forsake his service by treating lightly the preaching and teaching work that he assigned to followers of Jesus Christ. (Lu 6:46; Mt 24:14; 28:19, 20) They may also claim to serve God but reject his representatives, his visible organization, and then turn to ‘beating’ their former associates to hinder their work. (Jude 8, 11; Nu 16:19-21; Mt 24:45-51) Apostates often seek to make others their followers. (Ac 20:30; 2Pe 2:1, 3) Such ones willfully abandoning the Christian congregation thereby become part of the “antichrist.” (1Jo 2:18, 19) As with the apostate Israelites, destruction is likewise foretold for apostates from the Christian congregation.—2Pe 2:1; Heb 6:4-8
During the period of persecution that the early Christian congregation experienced at the hands of the Roman Empire, professed Christians were at times induced to deny their Christian discipleship, and those who did so were required to signify their apostasy by making an incense offering before some pagan god or by openly blaspheming the name of Christ.
It is evident that there is a distinction between a ‘falling’ due to weakness and the ‘falling away’ that constitutes apostasy. The latter implies a definite and willful withdrawal from the path of righteousness. (1Jo 3:4-8; 5:16, 17) Whatever its apparent basis, whether intellectual, moral, or spiritual, it constitutes a rebellion against God and a rejection of his Word of truth.—2Th 2:3, 4

So why do Catholics bother with confession? What about deathbed conversions, any conversions for that matter. Being born again, or should GW Bush not have bothered since he can't be saved?
Or is this yet another of the inconsistencies in that great holy book called the bible.

I believe that blaspheming God is not believing Him. You have time throughout your whole life to believe or to turn from unbelief. If you die unbelieving, that is the final say.
So ya got to keep on praying and loving folks into the arms of God!

The two headed, all male Christian Homo God, mostly Blasphemes Woman. Calling the first, all male, Christian church, (MOTHER), is Blasphemy in itself.
I call the two headed, all male Christian Homo God, (THE CURSE ON MANKIND). Man will dominate man, to his own injury. (THERE IS NO HOPE IN MAN). See Jeremiah.

Blasphemy contains the act of saying the attributes or prerogatives of God, or ascribing those to a different individual or difficulty. (evaluate Ac 12:21, 22.) The Jewish non secular leaders accused Christ Jesus of blasphemy as a results of fact he mentioned that the sins of specific persons have been forgiven (Mt 9:2, 3; Mr 2:5-7; Lu 5:20, 21), and that they tried to stone him as a blasphemer as a results of fact of his putting forward himself to be God’s Son. (Joh 10:33-36) while Jesus made a assertion to the Sanhedrin regarding God’s purpose in direction of him and the extreme place to be granted him, the extreme priest ripped his clothing and accused Jesus of blasphemy, for which Jesus became condemned as worth of loss of life. (Mt 26:sixty 3-66; Mr 14:61-sixty 4) Having no authority from the Romans to enforce the loss of life sentence, the Jewish non secular leaders shrewdly replaced their accusation of blasphemy to that of sedition while taking Jesus in the previous Pilate.—Joh 18:29–19:sixteen. different acts of blasphemy recorded interior the Hebrew Scriptures have been those of priest Eli’s sons (1Sa 3:12, 13) and that of the pagan Assyrian stable Rabshakeh. (2Ki 19:4-6, 22, 23) harmless Naboth became convicted of blasphemy and positioned to loss of life on the inspiration of testimony via fake witnesses. (1Ki 21:10-13) In later cases, God condemned the fake prophets who reassured those disrespectful of Jehovah. (Jer 23:sixteen, 17) Jehovah gave advantageous warning that his reproachers could be rendered their due reward “into their own bosom.” (Isa sixty 5:6, 7; evaluate playstation 10:13; Isa 8:20-22.) as a results of fact of Israel’s apostate direction, Jehovah’s call got here below reproach between the countries.—Isa fifty two:4, 5; Eze 36:20, 21.

Well... guess I'm doomed. I'm relatively certain I have engaged in all forms of blasphemy. God is a tricky guy, ya know.
"Blasphemy" is just a manipulation to intimidate people into not having rational discussion or thoughts... to keep the sheeple in servitude to corrupt humans.
