I would suggest either getting the Remington 870 Express or the Mossberg 835. Both are pump action weapons and operate well consistantly. I actually prefer the Mossberg because it's made in the USA. Remington is Made in Japan. The Mossberg is also cheaper. I would also recommend staying away from buying from a major retailer like WalMart. The guns provided these retailers are produced in mass and we have had several in our shop that don't feed properly right out of the box. They were machined wrong from the factory. If you want to search these weapons or any others I would recommed gunbroker.com. It's like ebay for guns.

!0 gauge ? Well, he's got to be a goose or turkey hunter. That's a big gun.
Remington, Browning and Mossberg all make great shotguns. So you have choices.
The Remington SP-10 is an awesome shotgun.
Heres a link.

It depends on what he intends on using the weapon for. I have several shot guns. My Browning 12 guage is my most prized shot gun. I shoot a 12 guage 870 Remington pump most of the time. This is a great gun.
I would love to have a Browning 12 guage over and under. This is a very expensive gun.
Go to Ganger Mountain or Academy and talk with the folks there. I have had a gun since I was 13 years old.

Benelli M4 Super 90. :D it might not be a 10 gauge, but what one 10 gauge slug can do, so can six 3 1/2 12 gauges in about a second.
this handsome fellow http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/benelli_m4_1.jpg
LOL, I'm just being a jack ***...personally, I'd reconmend anything from Browning, Benelli, or Remington...but I would say offer to pay for it, but let him pick, since a gun has to feel right to you in order for you to enjoy it and use it to its maximum.

Benelli makes the best but make sure that the 10 gauge is right, that isn't a real popular gauge.

I recommend, like the others to visit your local Sporting Good shop and ask the gents in the hunting department. Most of the time they are more than helpful. I do recommend buying him the combo package, which usually includes two barrels. One for slugs (bullets used for bigger game such as deer) and the other for shot (bullets used for smaller game rabbit, bird, turkey).

Good luck finding a ten gauge. You may need to buy one used. I don't remember the last time I even saw one. I would call around to your local gun shops. Let them do the work for you.

Go to Davidson's gallery of guns. You can look up firearms by caliber or gauge and get prices. I think the website is davidsonsgalleryogguns.com

Browning BPS is by far the best gun for the job. Your husband is obviously interested in Goose hunting. The BPS will not freeze up in cold weather and can tolerate a lot of abuse, mud, and moisture.

Remington has a autoloader SP-10. Browning has a pump and a autoloader. Just visit the said websites to view them.
