No,I think young people think that it is a grown up thing and makes you look tough to curse all the time, when in fact its quite embarrassing.
Lots of people curse when they've hurt themselves or are angry and probably feel quite stupid after for looking so uncool.
I saw some of Bad Boys the movie the other night and didn't realise how poor the vocabulary was,its probably because i'm getting older and can't tolerate such talk the same.

I know I personally curse all the time, not because I have a limited vocabulary, (although I guess I do, lol) but it's what I've been around and I've picked it up, I curse without realizing that I am, it becomes second nature. It's more of the person's upbringing and who they associate themselves with.

In some cases yes, but I am 34 yrs old , college educated and I curse in most sentences. I just use that to express myself and i grew up around it. Just the way me and my peer group choose to talk. Some kids do it to be cool. Maybe like the ones you are talking about.

nah...I have a pretty good vocab and am well educated and i curse all the time...even when I'm alone. There just words, if I were 3000 miles away in another country they would mean absolutely nothing at all. How arbitrary lanuage is.

They think that makes them tough. Maybe it's a defense mechanism. U see they're really frightened, so they curse like that to put on a false illusion. They may grow up someday. But I don't know for sure.

Simple answer: yes.
Or rather: people curse (the way you described above) not because their vocabulary is limited, but because their brain capability is limited.
Horrible.

Sometimes people curse to further express themselves. I am an educated, appropriate and mature woman of my 40's who sometimes swears because I puctuates what i am saying. Almost everyone swears.

I think the two may be linked, but also circular. There's a whole "Ignorance is cool" ethic, particularly amongst young boys, where it's almost considered wrong to show you are intelligent.

Yes & No, it depends if they come from where they don't get to expand their knowledge and that they hear these profane words everyday & they incoperate into their vocbulary. so u really can't blame them . they probally don't see anything wrong with them or they know it's wrong but theystill use them.
