My 2 y/o golden started peeing on herself when she's sleeping and today she squatted in the house intentionally. We just got a new golden puppy but lavish attention on both all the time. Should we ignore it and keep lavishing attention on both? Also, when we crate the puppy at night and she cries, my 2 y/o shakes all over until the puppy settles down. Any help is appreciated.

start putting them in the garage and leave the garage door open so they can go outside to pee on the grass. that's enough peeing inside the house.

I would recommend training, and obedient classes to your 2 y/o. But it seems like she's going through jealousy. I think the best thing to do is show the 2 y/o it's place, take it for walks without the pup, or take it out to play more often, so it realizes it is still important. Also, try giving it something whenever it goes outside, something like a treat or a bone (etc)

Hope I helped, Happy New Year!

It does sound like it could be a behavioual problem but the first thing when it comes to urinating alot or in the house is to bring her into the vet and have them test the urine. Most of the time when they have frequent urination its associated with a bladder infection. Its really quick and if it is a bladder infection then its very easily solved with a course of antibiotics. If its not the urine then its a behavioural problem, which is a whole new topic.

do not punish her and always give her a little more attention without the new pup. and love her. my guess the puppy wee wee on the spot and your older one is claiming her territory back. and being nervous is most likely you think she will harm the pup and you corrected her, now you made it hard for her to get acquainted

Your older dog needs to go to the vet. That's not a behavior problem, if it's happening in her sleep.
